shedding?? The other day i was talking to a groomer and she told me that yorkies shed a little bit of their fur. Now i read in a book that yorkies do not shed at all. Which one is correct? Just curious...

well, it's actually not fur. it's hair =) so it'll fall out just like human hair, only when it's combed or if it breaks off. they do not necessarily shed, so they can be categorized as hypoallergenic (not in all cases, though...depends on if the people interacting with your dog are more sensitive to whatever your yorkie has on its coat).

| Their hair is like human hair.. They only shed as much as we do, which isn't much. The only time I notice I am losing hair is when I wash it. That is probably when you will notice hair from you yorkie too.

yeah see thats why i was confused because i thought that their "fur" or whatever was actually hair like on the top of our heads so i thought that what she was saying was wrong. And is it true that yorkies can get cold like in the winter and such? I mean it does make sense that they do and that they should be covered because if their hair is like ours, well we cover our heads when its cold outside. right?

yea, i tend to get cold in the winters like today so even flipping up my hood over my head helps a little. but yorkies tend to need cover from the cold/wind sometimes because they do shiver, sometimes even inside the house on a cold winter day
