| Even though the odds are against you, I say it never hurts to try...why don't you try and shave/trim them down and tape them and see if that helps...

| Depending on how big and thick the ears are determine the success of getting them to go back up. Try this: Shave inside and outside, all the hair off the ears. Shave it very close. Then tape them up. Tape a V outlining the ear on both sides of each ear and fold the tape over. Make a "bridge" across the middle, connecting them by the "bridge" of tape. Leave this on for about 2 weeks, checking them everyday for circulation. Take tape off after 2 weeks. Massage the muscles of the ears. If they go back down, tape them again. Repeat. Sometimes only one ear will stand, so repeat the tape on both ears again. When and if they are both standing, keep the hair shaved off those ears. At first, shave most of the ear then gradually shave half. Most puppy ears that have gone down after standing up as a very young puppy is caused by the weight of the hair bringing down the ears. Teething also brings those ears down(around 6 months) It is important to tape those ears up at that time until the cartilage and muscles are strong enough to hold them up again. If the cartilage has been broken, the ears will not stand up again. I use half inch masking tape. I have also used glue on Skyes ears that are iffy about going up. This is commonly used for German Shepard ears too. I cant remember the name of it, but its used to repair canvas. It eventually comes out over time. Dont shave the hair off as you want to glue the inside hair of the ears together so that the hair of each ear touches in the middle above the top of the head. Good luck!!! |

| Congrat!! Did you tape the ears as well? Remember to keep the tape on for a few days cause they will go back down if not done long enough. |

| My Jackson is 13 weeks old, and his ears aren't standing either. We shaved them, and that has helped alot. One ear is trying so hard to stand. We taped them, but only left it on for an evening and overnight. I don't think we taped them long enough, and I do think that if we left them taped for a 2-3 days, they would stand. But, he HATES the tape and I keep putting it off because I don't like making him upset. He's teething, which doesn't help. I have some good instructions for taping that I found on the internet. If you would like them, just PM me.

| Suzy's ears were floppy until about 3.5 months. I kept the hair on 1/3 of the ears shaved (well, cut very, very closely with scissors) and then one day one popped up and then a couple of days later the other did. About 2 days ago (Suzy is about 5 months old now) one of her ears started being floppy again but she's teething. I'm just making sure to keep the ears trimmed and hopefully it'll pop back up by itself. I really, really don't want to have to tape her ear. She will hate it. |

| You can shave and tape up the 10 1/2 weeks ears up to get them to stand up. Just be careful what kind of tape you use.

| My vet told me to give our puppy a little gelatin mixed with water each day. Has anyone heard of this. The same kind you use to harden nails and make gelatin products. Has anyone tried it?? |
