| It was a BAD night! So, it was a BAD BAD BAD night last night.....here is the story.... So, around 5am last night..I heard Chloe making some painful noise...so, I woke up and saw her in pain.....She was breathing so hard..heart rate was fast..and burping constantly.....I thought she was having a heart attack! I WAS FREAKING OUT!!! Anyhow...long story shorts...she was fine at the end. I found out she threw up in our bed (She was so smart, she got out her bed and threw up in our bed instead!! She has her own doggie bed on our bed next to our pillows) I found out she was "choked" by Merrick Flossies! The odd thing was.......she has been eating Merrick Flossies for few months now..never had problem with it.....not sure what happened last night.....esp she had it around 10pm? I don't understand why she was choking by it around 5am?? |

| I'm glad she's ok, she is very lucky she brought it up... others haven't had the same happy ending. One of the reasons for the time delay in bringing it up is that her system couldn't break it down for digestion... so to get it out, it's gotta come up. I remember years ago we pulled a bunch of animal based products off the shelves and were handing out info sheets about this very topic. Since that time I stay away from products that can be "chewed" into pieces and only feed cooked beef bones and keep an eye on the bone during the first few chewings... some bones break down but some last forever. My kids love the full size beef rib bones... except I have to eat the meat off the bone first. The sacrafices we do for them! Alana

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | oh wow how scary! Those are big pieces that she got off. Is she usually able to get pieces off? When morgan eats them she just gnaws on one end until it gets gooie but she is never able to rip a whole piece off. those pieces do not look like hte chewed pieces i have here at home. Are they perhaps the ends that she was able to swallow? *side note on bones* if you are going to give real bones please give raw ones as these do not splinter.

I was thinking the same thing. I've never had a problem. Once she chews it down to a certain length I get rid of it... I'm so glad she is okay!

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | oh so it is the last piece of the flossie that she is swallowing? i'd pick them up when they are two inches long and toss them. if she won't give them up then offer something better like a piece of cheese to get her away from it
