Do you know if the previous owner registered the Chip number with Avid?
Here is their phone number. 800-336-AVID
There should be a certificate with it, stating the Vet that implanted and the owner's info is on the back of the certificate and a transfer, if she remembered to sign it. If the previous owner didn't register, it will come back to the Vet.

I dont have the certificate just the number. I have the previous owner's name..

on that page it gives you a number for you to call and change the ownership information. There is a fee involved as well. I had to do this when my sister left me her cat when she moved overseas.

One of my friend at the doggy playdate, rescue a little yorkie, and when she took it to the vet they told her about the microship, so I think she called the lady to get the info from her, hope everything work out for you
