| 7 WEEK old pup, what to feed her???? Hi there! i thought id post a new listing, im a worried mom, who always worries and wants some good advice from the best yorkie lovers around :0) We got jameson last year, his birthday 2 days ago, fine and healthy, we wanted a playmate for him...so we got a 7 week closer to 8 week old chorkie (chi-yorkie mix) she looks just like a yorkie however.....I was concerned because jameson is spoiled, but he is not getting used to her. She is so curious and just loves jameson already!! She is following his every move...she is said to weigh 2 lbs, but seriously feels less than that, so tiny!!! she is suposed to weigh 5 lbs fully grown, her mother is 5 her father 4 but you know how that goes, can never tell..... Anyway, im wondering what to feed her, the breeder gave me a bag of dry pup food, however we tried to give it to her and it seems too big for her....also i want her to be fed pup food that is the most natural healthy possible,,,,any ideas on this???? jameson loves tiny apple bites, i gave her one broken up into like pin sized pieces and she loved it...is this okay? right now we cook for jameson but im going to feed them seperate. Im going to feed them in seperate rooms. Should she be drinking puppy milk or water? I gave her regular milk and then thought twice about it, she only had a little. j when we got jameson he was already 4 months old, so it was alot easier... she is feisty and looooves jameson, she just wants to play with him, he will come around eventually.. |

| Where did you find a breeder that would sell a puppy so young? But anyway, I'm sure if you moistened the food with some water or low-sodium chicken stock she'd be able to eat it more easily. Good luck. |

| As I have posted before, I got my yorkie(first one) at 6 weeks, she is now 5 years, never had any problems out of her..What I did was mix her puppy food with a little water to let it soften, then would put a teaspoon of either cottage cheese in it or a teaspoon of the canned puppy food(mix it up good), you can also scramble and egg and give her about 1/4 of it...make sure you always have water down for her and food accessible..if the other dog wants to eat her food, then make sure you feed her maybe 3-4 times a day..she should be fine |

| My baby didn't want to eat at all when I brought her home....not the food the breader gave me or what I had. She as about 1.7 lbs and almost 9 weeks when I first brought her home. When she started to weaken I forced (had to hold open her little mouth) down some nutrical puppy. After that she started to eat what I'd gotten which was Royal Canin Indoor Puppy 27. She never wanted anything to do with the breeders food. But the royal canin puppy food is TEENY tiny pieces...she has no trouble eating it all. |

| SASSYFIRE.....your little boy is precious!!!!! we can stick together and trust me, youve done the right thing by joining this site, these people helped me with jameson and were so amazing about it!!! thank you lall by the way :0) also i also wondered after i got lucy if it was okay to take her after 7 weeks, th e breeder was outside of lancaster, and ive read alot about the pup mills there, so i wanted to see where she was kept and all....he didnt have many dogs, just lucy and her brothers and sisters, plus moms and dads....the set up was cute. ive been doing research all night, mike has been up all n ight waking up and sleeping with lucy, and i feel we are great parents to jameson, im self employed so i can constantly be with them. I figured that and not to steriotype, bu t to the amish, the treat their animals as animals, i feel we could give lucy love and nurturing now instead of waiting, she is closer to 8 weeks than 7....jameson was already 4 mo old when we got him, he was more stable....so this is delicate, im trying to find out the BEST puppy food, that isnt crude and tons of by product for a dog.....any ideas???? |

| Have you heard of canidae? It's expensive, but it's for all stages of life, puppy up to senior..I used to use it, but having 6 dogs at this moment(2 of them big outside dogs), I had to switch back to Blackwood, which is another good food..I give the puppy the blackwood puppy food..there are a lot of good quality foods out there..you can do a search on best puppy foods, and then compare |

| Sit tight, you'll got alot more responses later on in the day when everyone wakes up. Sorry I can't recommend a puppy food, I got Chip from a rescue and he was all ready a year old. At the moment I feed him Canidae, I like it because its easily digestible. |

Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Canidae All Life Stages is an EXCELLENT food - and since it is an all-stages food, you will not have to change it later. The kibble size is manageable - my Marcel was 1 lb. 12 oz. when he was eating this kibble, and he did fine. Dogs usually love the taste too, without anything added - so try that first. I also LOVE Orijen - it is really my first choice, but it's made in Canada - so it can be a bit tough to find. Their white paper is one of the BEST pieces I've ever read on canine nutrition - if you're looking for education regarding kibble. Your baby is young and it sounds like you're on top of it, but just watch for hypoglycemia - bc yorkies are so very prone to it, esp. at HER young age. Also, he should be eating about every 4 hours right now. She's ADORABLE!!!!!!

Dresher is 20 miles out of Philly, in Montgomery County. It is exactly between the Ft. Washington and Willow Grove exits on the PA turnpike. I avoid going up North as much as possible, too cold this time of year. | |
