| NEW YORKIE..Meets our yorkie, interaction problems! any advice!?!? Hi everyone! Jameson is a year old yorkie male....very spoiled....we just got him today a female yorkie only 8 weeks old. She is under 2 lbs, jameson is 6 lbs....Jameson is very jealous, like when she goes by him his tail goes up, and he wont eat, he wont bite at her, and he does smell her, but then she gets so excited and wants to play so he backs off..... Has anyone been through this? and anyone have any advice?? We purchased Lucy, for jameson...he loves to play, and we thought he would loooove a little girlfriend. Lucy is very friendly, she is curious and wants to know jameson, when we got lucy today, she was the pick of the litter, so she was sad to leave her brothers and sisters, and when she saw jameson she was excited. When we got jameson he was the last of the litter, and was sooo happy for us to take him because he wasnt lonely anymore! How long until they actually play together??? Thanks everyone in advance for your looking at my post!! xoxo ps: Ill post pics of lucy and jameson soon! |

| Welcome to YT! If you just got her today, it will take a while especially if Jameson was the only spoiled child for the past year. You know "only child syndrome", so he may grow to love her like a liter mate, or just grow to learn how to tolerate her. Be patient and keep an eye out just in case they get aggressive. BTW: Is Jameson neutered? |

| He's probably still in the "what the heck?!!" unsure stage. Do you plan on neutering him? Otherwise you can end up with a young pregnancy which is not good. |

| We don't have 2 Yorkies, but I'm sure you will get tons of good advice on here!!! I'm sure eventually they will get to be good buddies, but you definitely should think about having him neutered.

| You are right, he can't get her pg until she goes in to heat, but, if you're not going to breed them, it's better to have them spayed/neutered. Once the male matures, he will start lifting his leg(most likely), and will be marking all over the house, plus the chances of them getting certain cancers are less likely if they're spayed/neutered. They just make much better pets..Your little guy will come around, heck, I just brought my 4th inside dog home not quite 2 weeks ago..the oldest dog accepted her pretty quickly, the other 2 are still not sure about her..good luck |

| Yep, so you got some time to get him neutered. Males can go crazy if they are around a female in heat, and he could be done impregnating her before you know it. |

| We just our male Bear who is 12 weeks and we have a 6 month old female. Took her about a week to adjust to the new puppy. She actually had the poops for the first few days she was so stressed out. Your male will come around soon enough. They will be the best of friends.

| LITTLEWHIP, your pictures are ADORABLE!!!! Thank you so much, jameson already seems to be calmed down. he is a quirky little guy...atfirst we werent going to breed, he was a funny looking guy, hahaha but now he is just grown and so cute!!! so thats why we havent neutered him, he doesnt hump anything really, he has one toy he trys, but he rather hump the air from above her, hahaha. as for our new one, she isnt full breed, she is a chorkie, but looks more of the workie mix, ill include a pic of her here...the thign is, she is only 7 weeks going on 8, she is really healthy, but im really concerned on what to feed her, jameson got spoiled and we have to cook for him everyday. Im going to feed them in seperate rooms. Should she be drinking puppy milk or water? I gave her regular milk and then thought twice about it, she only had a little. jameson looooves small apple bites, so i gave her 2 miniscule ones and she loved it....but what is the best puppy food, thats natural to give her? when we got jameson he was already 4 months old, so it was alot easier... she is feisty and looooves jameson, she just wants to play with him, he will come around eventually.. |

Wow! You got her really young, puppies should be with their mother and liter until at least 8 weeks. No cow milk, dogs are lactose intolerant. A little bit (ice cream, yogurt, etc.) later on when she is older is ok. Have you looked into a Premium Puppy food? Unless you add supplements, home cooking won't provide all the nutrients for your little girl especially since she is so young. | |

Phantom Queen Morrigan Donating Member | hi and welcome to YT. congrats on your new little girl. As your female gets a little older your 1 year old male might start marking the house. he might start claiming things as his, especially if he doesn't take to her for a while. If you do a search on YT you'll find TONS of great reasons for spaying and neutering your pets. as for food, there are tons of great puppy foods out there. you can check out www.dogfoodanalysis.com for some suggestions or do a search here. the higher the star the better the food. Some here say 6 stars is too much protein but i do not agree since i fed a raw diet. good luck with your puppies.
