| I am soooo frustrated with potty training Teddy is 8 months old today and I am so frustrated. He is crated at night to sleep and when we eat or go out. NEVER an accident. In fact, from day one when we got him at 8 weeks old, he could go all night (11 hours). We used the ex pen for about four months and he would not go potty in there on his pee pads or newspapers. My problem is he has been outside with me all day and we just came in. He walked in the house and pooped. He knows he did wrong because he looks at me and puts his ears back as if to say "I'm sorry mom - the devil made me do it". Years ago it was always rub the dogs nose in it, spank him and put him out. That seems so barbaric. Teddy is NEVER spanked, actually we don't need to yell at him as he is really smart and knows right from wrong except when it comes to the potty issue. I can't put him in the crate and then take him out to go potty and then put him back in the crate as he would constantly cry and my hubby could not take that. Besides I can stay outside with him for hours and then he would only come in the house and do his potty in here. (like today) I just don't know what to do. So frustrating as we have tried everything suggested here and what I have read. Thank you for listening to my ranting - it helped a little and if anyone is going through this please let me know. Like I said I have tried most everything and nothing works. Hubby said he is just a lazy boy and it is easier to drop it where he is instead of asking to go out. |

Join the club, I can't go back to crating and Gypsy point blank refuses to go toilet outside... she pees on the peepads but doesn't poo... it's soooo frustrating!

| How old is Gypsy?? I have the same problem - Teddy, being 8 months old, is used to being out with us and going back and spending most of the day in the crate is just not an option. I just could not do that to him (or us either). But I just don't know what to do. First thing in the a.m. when he comes out of his crate, I tell him "lets go outside to go potty" and he knows what I mean because he runs to the door and he will go potty (both) outside. But like today, he was outside with me for hours but then came in and pooped. I always tell him it is a good thing you are sooooo cute. He is so good with everything else, no chewing, sleeping all night, and I know he can hold it as he has for 11 hours since 8 weeks old but oh boy, when the urge hits, he just goes wherever. Good luck with your baby and keep me posted. I am hoping that one day the light will go on and we will have it made but so far, he can't find the light switch |

I can't even get her to go first thing, she just trots about and then i bring her in and she goes on the pad. It's so frustrating, i was at my mum's the other day and she was playing outside with my Mum's dogs and she came into to use the pad in the house! I've tried putting pads in the garden, using sprays outside, even the old runner rug is in the garden that she's had accidents on in the past is outside and she still doesn't get it!
