I need help with treats!!!! Buddy has always LOVED getting treats. But he has grown tired of the ones I have been using. :tongue036 I went to Petsmart & Petco today and I was so confussed. There are so many to pick from. I use the treats to reward for pottying outside, coming when called, obeying commands, etc... So I figured my YT friends could suggest some yummy treats for my little guy! So please share with me what your little ones like as treats!!!!!!!!:thumbs up |
My little Rocco is bored of his treats too. I was using the beggin strips and cherrios, but instead of eating them he just plays with them. I also would like to know what other treats to consider because Rocco is starting his Polite Puppy class in 2 weeks!:D Thanks!!! -E |
For training I use the little turkey or chicken baby hotdogs (gerbers?). The only problem is I have to wash my hands right away!! I also use a treat that I found at Pet Smart that they love, but I am at work and I can't think of the name, they are soft and little. When training it is important to a have a treat that is small and soft. Reason is if you choose a harder treat during training then the dog stops to munch on the treat and looses track of the training! I try to use more natural treats on a daily basis (carrots, cherrios etc) and then more special treats when we are learning something. Kathy |
We like freeze dried liver treats the best :D Also, they go crazy for Wellness snacks too....they are kind of like a jerky in many flavors... |
You can get Old Mother Hubbard at Petsmart, they were the smallest ones I could find for my puppy, i still break them in half, they come in many different flavors! |
How about carrots and apples!!!! Mine love them. |
Natural Balance rolls! You have to cut them up in cubes but I swear i have not met a doggie that didn't LOVE this stuff. But I keep a counter full and fridge just for different treats. Some of my babies are really picky so I have to change it up. Pupcorn... they like... and twisted cheese and beef sticks! |
Zoe will do anything for these! Have you tried Charlee Bears treats from Trader Joes? You can also get them from the website I believe, CharleeBear.com. They are tiny, non messy, all natural and only three calories a treat, perfect if you have a tiny Yorkie. Zoey thinks they are the best thing going and hasn't gotten tired of them (or gained weight!) in five years. Good Luck! Mycean & Zoe :-) |
Charlee Bears are awesome and are 3 calories. We LOVE Cloud Star's Buddy Biscuits. They make an "itty bitty" for Loki and a "chewy" for Sammy. |
Wesley loves Zukes Mini Natural chicken treats. I don't feel bad giving them to him either because they are healthy. |
Boil some chicken breast, break into bits. Any Yorkie will go crazy for it! |
My boys love the Canidae Snap biscuits. You can break off the size biscuit you want for the size of your dog. They come in Chicken and Lamb/Rice. Snickers is very picky but he flips out for his snap biscuits! |
Believe it or not, my Yorkie, Mugzy, loves Purina Cat Chow!! He used to always eat it when we first got him, so I had to put it on the counter for our two cats so he would eat his own food. Now I use it for treats, and the small size is great so he doesn't get filled up quickly. One or two little pieces and he's happy! P.S. This is my first post on YorkieTalk:) |
Robbin :congrats: Believe it or not, my pup likes carrot, small pieces of grapes, and other fruits and veggies in small pieces !!!! We are on a health food kick, so I try to make sure I can read and understand all the Ingredients before I give him anything!!! That goes for his snakes, dry food, ice cream and drinks. I don't go over board with the diet, but I want him to be healthy!! </IMG> |
Mine likes "Talk to Me " treats they have a minty flavor to them and low on fat. They are small shaped like a bone and soft. We get them at Pet Smart they only get them when I am leaving the house. Or after bath time. |
