Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | Does an adult yorkie help train a puppy? Hi All, I have a 2.5 yr. old yorkie - obedience trained pretty well. Potty trained pretty well w/ occasional mistakes. He is a male. I'm considering getting another male yorkie puppy and am wondering: do puppies train quicker if another yorkie is already trained? Do they mimic the adult behaviors? Or, do you just start from scratch again? Also, how about jealousy from the adult? I'm so worried about Wylie feeling insecure/anxious if we bring another dog into our home. Any advice? Thanks! Ann |

| My little guys follow the big guys around. The little ones still occasionally pee in the house, but the almost never poop inside. I have a doggie door. So Yes I think it helps if you have an older one.f As for jealousy, just make sure you give the older dog extra attention, feed the older one first, etc. The biggest problem might be that the puppy wants to play and the older one might not and then he might snap at the puppy. |

I was amazed with my very first litter, when I witnessed mom herding her puppies to the piddle pad. Since then I've I figured mom knows best and allow them to do the training and they leave my home completely pee pad trained.

| Cozy got the idea of going to the bathroom outside pretty quickly. My golden Lucky helped. He will pee on command. You say the word, he would go and then she would go. The only problem with this arrangement now is that she lifts her leg everytime her pees. It is really funny to watch. |

| Besides the potty thing... My adult Yorkie, Jazzie has taught the new Twins how to: Beg for food Climb the stairs Hog the bed, pillow, sofa, chair or anywhere else I want to sit or lay Beg for more food Bark at the door bell She's not helping at all with the following: Sit Down Stay Quiet However, they respond well to "Come" - See "Beg for Food" above.

| I'm not sure about puppies but my mom had a completely potty trained Jack Russell, that only has accidents when he just can't hold it any longer. I mean the perfectly potty trained dog but when she got a female unpotty trained dog. The male started pissing everywhere the female did. If the female peed in the center of the livingroom floor, Chub the male marked it. I guess this is just a adult dog thing when their the opposite sex but thats what happened to my mom. Of course now the female is gone Chub is back to being peeing outside. Hey do you guys have problems with the males marking territory in peoples houses when you take them to other peoples houses? B/c Chub the Jack Russell is like family and I would bring this fully trained dog to my house for a visit and he wanted to mark Territory all over my house so I had to take him home. I just thought it was wierd that a potty trained dog do that. |
