| Does this method seem mean??? My Kahula loves to chew/bite like any puppy, he doesn't do it to be mean. When he grabs something to chew other than a toy or bone, I/We say "off" and mist him w/water from a spray bottle (when bottle is close by). He drops what ever he has grabed and all is good. Does this seem to negative.

| i tried that with nala at first it worked but then she decided she liked being sprayed with water and to her it was me "playing" with her. one thing that always works on her is if she is doing something wrong and we say no and she doesn't stop we shake a glass jar with pennies in it. she can't stand it! |

| No, I've used the spray bottle before. If it works and you are comfortable using the method, then stick with it. |

| I have also used the jar method except I used rocks.....pretty much anything that will fit in the jar and make a loud unpleasant noise. Can't say I have used the spray bottle. |

| That's funny I could see Kahula deciding the bottle was a game too. I guess I'll give the noisy jar a try. Thanks for the input.

| I tried the spray bottle and Gidget loves it. She thinks we are playing. A friend said to put alittle bit of vinegar in it. I haven't tried that yet. |

| Squirting.. I also used the squirt bottle, for my puppy (Lily, R.I.P., my baby!!) that would not stop barking whenever she wanted something or was unattended.. I would squirt her until she was soaked, then I'd have to blow dry and brush her out! Well, this was happening 3-5 times per day, and needless to say, this was more punishment to me than her; she just kep right on barking! I also used the cans. My baby, Daisy, would yap when I left her outside in her potty pen. She would yap, bark, and if it was raining, she would howl! I was told to get change and put it in the can and shake the can eveytime she barked. The problem was she only does it when I go inside, not when I am standing there- so they said throw the cans at her pen to "startle her" and get her to stop...that didn't work, either! She would stop barking about 2 seconds, while the can was in the air, then when it would land, she'd run over to where it was and put her feet thru the pen and roll the can and keep barking, almost to say "I want to be outside of this pen like the can is!!". Quite Annoying! A few times, the can landed in her pen and then she'd roll it around, while barking, and annoy me!!! The only good that came out of this was that I improved my throwing hand!!! Needless to say, I just don't leave her outside to go potty! Now, she knows she has 1-2 minutes to do hewr business, or she'll have to hold it, and we have 0 problems!! If the can works for you, use it! If the bottle works, use it! Just don't ever hit them or they will learn to hate what hurts them! Love your Yorkie babies like they're your kids!! |

| We use the shaker method. The glass bottle cracked on me so now I use a soda can with about 10 pennies in it and it works like a charm. |

| I don't see any harm in it. Sounds like good alpha training to me. |

| This method is not mean , I used it with Zsa Zsa when she was young and use it now with Jade . It is better than what I saw the other day when walking Jade . I saw a lady who was beating her small yorkie with a belt , she was constantly telling him " you will obey and be a good boy ". I was so mad at her that I let her no my disapproval of this method . If she acts like that on the street , can't imagine at her house . Little one looked pretty scared of her . |

| The spray bottle seems to work for our yorkie. He hates being sprayed, so usually he'll stop whatever he's doing. |

| I never did that, just used a sharp "no" or "bad", but it doesn't seem cruel to me.
