Back to the water issue though. You know the bottles they use to water guina pigs and gerbils? That's what I use I attach it to their crate if I need to run someplace and we no longer have water issues. They are also very handy for traveling. It took them about a minute to catch on to how they function and now if they need water it's always available and I have no messes waiting for me when I get home. |
As I read this thread I kept on laughing out loud! The water tipping was Jewel's specialty and we too had to resort to the heavy crock bowls. Then the kibble hunting! Both Jazzie & Jewel did that too! Thank goodness neither aquired a taste for poop!:D Jazzie is the Queen of kibble toss & hunt so I sometimes make it a little more challenging for her and I flick the kibble accross the floor and make her chase after it for a more thrilling hunt. She now stands a few feet away and tries to block the skittering kibble like a NHL goalie! |

My new pup has been doing this same thing! I never had this problem with Kona. I keep refilling the bowl because it is so hot, but this little stinker goes over to it, take a few sips and then his paw is in there spashing it out. He's making a big mess on my kitchen floor. Luckily it is just water, but it is becoming a pain. I might have to look into the raised dishes... |
Hey--just to let everyone know, the raised dish that I purchased at Petsmart for about $20 (features a black wrought? iron stand with two ceramic dishes that fit into each hole (cute paw prints on the dishes). It has been the trick. It's not to high (advertises as made for cats and small dogs) so he can easily feed from it--but very awkward for him to try fishing. My kitchen is no longer having to be mopped throughout the day!!! Yeah!!!!:D |
