How much did it cost to neuter/spay your yorkie? My vet says $300 + ..... I don't have $300, but I am afraid to not get him neutered because of the marking. He is doing so well with the house training. My DH will flip if he starts going in the house. I'm going to have to think of something to sell!!!! |
I thought nuetering was cheaper than spaying. With the pre-op blood work and the surgery/overnight stay, Sissy's spaying was $250. Can't speak with authority since I have a female, but I hear belly bands are a good way to keep boys from marking in the house. Perhaps someone else with a boy can give you further advice. |
I don't know about nuetering but regular spaying here is about 300-400. Cali cost 2700 due to other problems, biopsies, spaying and 3 days in ER hospital. Yikes |
my vet charged me 350 $ for rocky . |
Peanut was nertered for 200.00. He stayed over night too. Where in Va do you live? |
!!! My vet charged me $70! And he is did a great job...Monkey was running arround the next day! I guess i got lucky! |
They don't charge that much here. For $300 you get a large dog spayed. I think the price is around$100, possibly cheaper for neuters. I would look around if I were you to make sure you get the best deal. Until then put a bellyband on him, they work really great and I don't know what I would do without them. |
Check with your local Humane Society. They have spay and neuter clinics several times a year with really reasonable costs. They may also be able to tell you a vet that is less expensive. |
I would think you could find it cheaper, too, but be careful that the vet is experienced with the right anesthetic (sp?) for Yorkies. Some aren't, with bad results. Sometimes the cheapest isn't always the best. But that does seem a bit much for a neuter. good luck, omega :animal-pa |
My Vet charged me $260 everything included + 2 teeth extractions. |
My Breakdown Here is how ours totaled out: CBC with Profile @ $32.53 Organ Profile Six Pre-Anestesia @ $60.64 Anesthesia @ $56.70 Neuter @ $72.22 Analgesic Injection @ $27.36 Antibiotic Injection @ $28.76 Hospitalization @ $37.76 Grand Total = $315.97 |

I know that bid a wee has clinics like someone above referred to. You can also check out : www.muffins.org www.friendsofanimals.org They sell a low cost spay/neuter cert that is used by a number of vets (check the list to see if one is close to you). The cert covers the spay/neuter and the anesthesia. You pay for the blood work and the after surgery stuff. With that cert here in NY it was going to cost me a total of $150 or so. I have heard that Bide A Wee does it for free and accepts a donation. Check it out. |
I just had Max neutered in May-the total cost including his microchip, pre-lab workup, procedure and a couple of puppy shots was $200. He also received a long-term pain shot with that price and was up running around like normal the next day. We love Dr. Susan!! |
Wosie's spay Wosie just got spayed 3 weeks ago. All together she cost me $169 for the spay, which would have included an overnight stay if I had let them keep her, lol. In reading this thread I see that my vet is very reasonable.:p They do NOT give pain pills which I find a bit cruel. But it's best not to give a pup meds if you can help it, I suppose. |
i just called my vet And they told me that it would cost me $190 with anesthesia, that they also do laser wich he dosent bleed that much but that's an extra $50 which is nothing to me for my baby anything but i forgot to ask about the blood work and all that ugghhhh |
It isn't going to cost me anything to get Ferdinand fixed. I have him on Petsmart's (Banfield Hospital) puppy wellness plan. It's $20 a month and covers all bloodwork, neutering, all immunizations, all appointments are free, deworming, 3 yearly stool samples, heartworm tests, plus I get 15% off all things that aren't covered. YTD I've saved approx $400 and I haven't gotten him neutered yet. |
Chloe cost me $268.00 but she had to have two bilateral hernias fixed also! Plus the pre-op bloodwork. But for a normal spaying, the vet charges $80.00 with the pre-op bloodwork is a little extra I think 20-30 dollars maybe! |
WOW does NY charge sooo much I mean geez, dont get me wrong i will pay anything for my dog :( |
my experience I got my 3 month old female shih tzu from the spca. She cost $185, that basically covers the surgery and her first puppy shot. Also, the spca here, has periodic specials where they will spay/neuter for something like $50. I'd check your local spca for a bargain. |
There is a certificate from the Humane Society called Friends of Animals. You can buy this certificate for around $50 depending if you have a cat or dog, male or female, and that covers the spay/neuter. You have to pay for pre screening if you chose that option, and pain pills if they have that option. It's well worth it if they have that in your area. |
I got my Yorkie from a so called reputable show/breeder at 7 months in Sept. He had pre-blood work and individual chemistry, before castration which was $112.50. In addition to the castration, 21 baby teeth extracted,"chin mass removal" (which the breeder failed to mention), lab biopsy of chin mass removal, overnight stay, and pain meds, for a total of $731.08. The grand total with lab work was $843.58. The chin mass removal and biopsy were more then the castration ($238.00). The bad news was the breeder. The good news for the Yorkie was that I bought him. The good news for me, ???, jury still out. He's aggressive towards other dogs (breeder failed to mention before I bought him but knew this). We have a behavoir/vet specialist working with him. He attacked my other little dog. I won't even list his surgery costs to repair a ripped throat or my damaged thumb removing him from the other dog's (currently 2lbs. 9 oz. of trauma) jugular. pasadena human society go to local animal shelter/human society they charge neutering/spaying by the weight of animal, my yorkie boy only cost $95 |
can't remember if I responded to this thread yet. We paid $120 for spayed and updated shots. She didn't need any baby teeth removed. We thought that was so cheap so we tipped her $20. She did a fabulous job on the cut. Jasmin healed nicely and now we can't even see the cut scar. |

BEST ADVISE, humane societies encourager's spaying and neutering, they make it affordable so ppl will have it done. I can't tell you what the cost is, I adopted my lil boy 3 months ago, he is 2 y/o, his medical folder that prev. sent with him when he was surrendered showed the ASPCA (my boy came NYC) performed it. so he was neutered when I got him. |
