Missing The Potty Pad I am hoping you all have some advice for me. Coco is almost 6 months and is fairly well potty trained...well except for she pees right next to her pad or on the edge of it 60% of the time. I don't want to praise or tell her no because she is in the right area but just missing it. At least she is not peeing on the carpet. I have two pads down to give her more room but she still tends to go right on the edge. I usually just clean it up but this is getting a little old. It really makes a mess because it gets soaked up under the pad and its not so pleasant. Any Advice?? Thanks! |
Gucci is almost 2 yrs old and she still misses sometimes. I dont get mad because she is the rite spot. If anyone has any advise I wil llove to hear it. I even bought the pee pad holder but she still misses, but not often |
I have a 2 year old that used to do the same thing, but not anymore. When she was less than a year old, I used 2 pads to give her more room, and she still miss or would be half-way there. Then I got a tip from one of the threads in this site, to lay down a small half-filled water bottle with it's label peeled off on all three sides next to the pads. To my surprise, it worked. I kept the bottles for about a month, and eventually took it off. She still stayed within the pad since then. Just remember not to get the pads too soiled, as they will try to find another cleaner to do their business. Hope this works for you. Mochi, Skittles and Twinky's MOM |
LOL, I had this same problem with my trixie. I guess she just had bad aim!!! So I put I lined the pad with her some toys, she has so many that it she didn't miss them. After I did that she would go right on the pad. I never heard of the water bottle trick, I guess I figured out something similiar by myself and it worked. |
Thanks for the idea. That is pretty clever. I put her toys around her pad and it worked once...Lets see where she goes next time. Thanks Again! |

I was having the same problem with Jaxon. I just moved the pads a little and since then he's been fine. I would like to get them moved a bit further back so they're not right in the doorway of the laundry room. Think I'll try the water bottle trick! :) |
Water bottle trick I don't understand how to properly use the water bottle trick. What is the bottle's purpose? I guess I'm dense today! And don't bottles only have one label around them anyway??? |
I just put a few toys around the border of her potty pads yesterday and so far we are 4 for 4 on the pad!! YEAH!!! Although, a little while ago she decided those are the toys she wants to play with. Hehe so typical! If she keeps moving them I am going to try the water bottles. |
You can also try putting it in some sort of box that's the same size as the pads. I put them in a plastic container that you would use for storage that was just about the same size as the pads. The sides were just about 3-4 inches high so she could easily get in and out. But this made sure if she was in the box she was on the pad. I saw her kinda walking around one time while going and she walked right off the pad so after that I used the box. It worked. It also kept her pad from moving at all. |
