Good luck! |
Ahh... let me elaborate on my previous post. I didn't worry about the pad staying in place inside the litter box. The pad is a little larger than the box and it folds up a little on the edges but no problem with that. If the pad get moved around and a little bit of pee gets under the pad, the clean-up is easy and it keeps your floor from getting wet so for me, it's a "Win, win"! |
I'm so glad I saw this thread today - it's been making me nuts that Buddy pees half off the pad very often. So I read the water bottle trick to be, _______0_______ W | A | L 0 L | _______0______ | with the "0" being bottles - I am just assuming the location of the pad next to a wall on one side - is that right? I am also assuming you put water bottles with the caps on them, right? Buddy would constantly move any toys I put there, so I will try that. I am constantly grateful for the Yorkie Talk forum! Without you guys, I would feel like I was the only one with the problems! It was very timely to see this post today because we were visiting my boyfriend and every single time he went on the pad it was half on and half off! If I spend one more minute wiping pee off the floor !!! ;) |
oops that didn't quite work right - but basically you put a water bottle on each side of the pad, at the edge - to encourage them to pee within the bottle "barrier"? |
Can anyone please explain the water bottle thing? Those instructions were very vague. P.S. I realize it's an old thread, but the issue is as relevant as ever. |
Bottles I am having the same problem with Sadie going on the edge of the wee-wee pad. I don't understand the bottle trick? Do I line the edges with the water bottles? I don't think toys will work as she has ADD and plays with all of her toys all the time sometimes two at time. :) Also, how do I get her to poo on the pad? She will go near it but not ON it? Typically so goes in her favorite spot in the hall. Every once in a while she will go on the pad, and I praise her for it. But that is a miracle. |
Same problem here Hazel Nut doesn't go off the edge of the pads, but every once in a while she does get really close. Luckily it is a little bit of urine and the pad mostly absorbs it. :) As for her poo, she only gets that on the pad about 50% of the time. It is always close when she misses, but I don't get that problem at all. I think the idea behind the water bottles is to build a small barrier around the pad, about 2-3 inches high so they go in and out of the area to do their business. I am going to try squaring the pads off with something, but probably not water bottles. I am thinking of building something simple, just a frame to outline the area. |
