I really doubt he enjoys peeing on the carpet! Be patient and give him some time. DOgs are kinda like kids...when they get a big reaction out of you they tend to repeat themselves. It is really not a big deal! Chill out, and you also need to evaluate your relationship with this dog! Sounds to me like you are in a power struggle with yourself :mad: :rolleyes: !!!!!!!

This might be part of what is making you so angry. Dogs don't think like that, he will be just as happy to go on the pad once he understands.
He is only five months and you've only been training him for two and a half. You are expecting too much too soon.

Not necessarily...When I got Max I was told that he was trained to go on newspaper. I even saw him go on the paper on his own when I was at the breeder's house. But wouldn't you know that when he arrived at my house the newspapers all of a sudden became his new chew toys. I even tried pee pads after that and he shredded those apart as well. Sometimes dogs don't generalize information that well when they are just learning new things. Just because they may use a pee pad appropriately in one room, doesn't mean that they will use it appropriately in another room of the same house. Especially if they are not taught. It just takes patience and time. Abbie is a year younger than Max and was housebroken within a year(~8-9 months). Max is 2 1/2 years old and still has accidents...but we're still working at it

I agree! Raising anything takes patience and understanding! Take a deep breath and try a hot bath and a good cry! Releases the stress...it always works for me!

You talk like your puppy thinks like a human and just enjoys irritating you. Dogs think very differently than we do. He wouldn't pee on the carpet out of defiance..... he pees on the carpet for other reasons. Perhaps you aren't cleaning up his pee good enough and he can still smell it... which will make him continue to go in that place. Maybe he is just confused for whatever reason and just needs more time and patience. Maybe the breeder really didn't train him and now you are trying to compensate for the lack of training to begin with. When I got Zoe, she was almost 5 mths. old. Her owner worked full time and Zoe was left at home alone all day to hopefully pee on a pad. She wasn't worked with at all. She has been difficult to train, but I know that eventually she will get it. It's not worth it to get mad at a dog.... they are innocent. If they don't understand, then we need to help them to understand. They don't do things to tick us off on purpose.

give him time, he is just begining. one day it seems like it cant' get any worse, then the next day it is like they totally get what you want them to do. believe me I have gotten pretty frustrated my self from time to time. they really do just want to please you. step back and get control of your self before you lose it totally with him. I am sure you don't want to hurt him or make it worse. There will be a lot of cleaning up to do before it is all over. Just look into those lovely little eyes and tell him you will wait for him to get it. he soon will.

Well i love my dog to death he goes to the best vet, the best groomer, i spend a fortune on toys, its just that i lost it today . :(

I have read they say to startle (spelling) them if you catch them peeing in the wrong spot then pick them up and put them on the pad. We give zoey a treat and have a party everytime she goes on the pee pad so she remembers the treat I guess. I also use the spay they sell on the pads also. ZOey is now running into her pen to go on pad but we still Never leave her unattended and watch her all the time. It takes time....it'll get better. :)

How old is he? you need to be patient! Rubbing their noses in it does not make them understand what they did wrong, it makes them think they shouldn't be going at all. And you should never ever, under any circumstances, hit your dog. He didn't know what he was doing. Yorkies have proven to be very very hard to housebreak. Tucker is nearly a year old and still has accidents in the house. we all lose it sometimes, you just have to try to be patient with him. he'll get it eventually!

I can tell that you are a good yorkie mommy from your past threads about how you hand prepare all of his healthy food. I'm sure he knows you love him. Patience really is key here..... otherwise we would ALL be cracking up! :) Good luck :)

I dont mean to offend you but just because you show him monitary/material affection doesnt make up for the emotional things ( such as isolation/not socializing with him). You have got to look at it from all aspects of care! Just like a child....even the kids who get all the material things in the world suffer if they arent emotionally cared for.

I know you are tired, frustrated and at your wit's end, you just want to throw up both your hands and scream!! Plus, your house ends up smelling like pee-pee and you're not aware that your house smells like that because you've gotten immune to it. Carpet is absolutely ruined.

There are no easy answers..... :confused:
