I am far from being an expert at this but I think pee pad training is more difficult for them to understand than going out side. I am trying to pee pads with my pups. the other 2 go out side and i had no problem getting them trained. the pee pads are more difficult. it seems that anything laying on the floor is fair game to them. It sounds to me like he is showing you where he is wanting to go maybe in rebeling for yelling at him. try giving the treats for going where he is supposed to go. works for us here. have patience and it will all fall together. good luck. |
Try keeping him crated, then let him out to do his business on a pee pad (or take him outside). When he understands what the pad is for let him have his freedom, gated in the kitchen. Also, if you want to take him into the carpeted area, use a bellypad (with or without the pad - your choice). Dogs are like babies, and children....each has it's own likes and dislikes....strengths and weaknesses; you just have to keep working with them until they get old enough to hold it a little bit. With love and patience he'll learn. |

try the belly band method. at least it will save your carpet. |

Wow....I think you should re-evaluate the decisions you are making. I cannot believe you would get so worked up over this. I have 4 dogs and 50% of the time, they use the pads, and 50% of the time they don't. Remember who is the adult here and who is the adolescent. I am not saying to let him think he is the boss, but please do not be disrespectful to him and to yourself. It's only fair. Thanks! |

OMG are you seriously gonna isolate him just because he pees on your carpet. Didnt you think it through prior to getting a small dog. Honey, their bladders are very tiny and even though they pee once doesnt mean that they wont have to pee in the next couple of minutes. If you are so worried about his frequent urination, take him to the vet. Could be a UTI! STOP ISOLATING HIM FOR SOMETHING HE CANT HELP!!! Would you do the same to a child!?! Geeewhizzz! |

I don't care about the carpet i just want him to learn to go on the pad on his own. |
How old is he? |
Please,please,please...never hit your puppy. Besides ruining your relationship and derailing your training efforts...you could hurt him in a fit of anger. I once had a golden retriever that was hit often while training and she would squint and cower everytime you tried to pet her. It was really sad. Count to ten the next time you lose control. |

Or obviously he has recently switched homes and may still be adjusting. I know it's been a few months but anything's possible. |

He is only five months and you've only been training him for two and a half. You are expecting too much too soon. |

give him time, he is just begining. one day it seems like it cant' get any worse, then the next day it is like they totally get what you want them to do. believe me I have gotten pretty frustrated my self from time to time. they really do just want to please you. step back and get control of your self before you lose it totally with him. I am sure you don't want to hurt him or make it worse. There will be a lot of cleaning up to do before it is all over. Just look into those lovely little eyes and tell him you will wait for him to get it. he soon will. |
I checked out your doggster profile and he is adorable! How could you stay mad at something that cute! I would melt just looking at him! |
Well i love my dog to death he goes to the best vet, the best groomer, i spend a fortune on toys, its just that i lost it today . :( |
I have read they say to startle (spelling) them if you catch them peeing in the wrong spot then pick them up and put them on the pad. We give zoey a treat and have a party everytime she goes on the pee pad so she remembers the treat I guess. I also use the spay they sell on the pads also. ZOey is now running into her pen to go on pad but we still Never leave her unattended and watch her all the time. It takes time....it'll get better. :) |
How old is he? you need to be patient! Rubbing their noses in it does not make them understand what they did wrong, it makes them think they shouldn't be going at all. And you should never ever, under any circumstances, hit your dog. He didn't know what he was doing. Yorkies have proven to be very very hard to housebreak. Tucker is nearly a year old and still has accidents in the house. we all lose it sometimes, you just have to try to be patient with him. he'll get it eventually! |

I dont mean to offend you but just because you show him monitary/material affection doesnt make up for the emotional things ( such as isolation/not socializing with him). You have got to look at it from all aspects of care! Just like a child....even the kids who get all the material things in the world suffer if they arent emotionally cared for. |
OHHHHHHH I looked at Royces picture you have on Dogster.....how could you ever get mad at that adorable baby....What a sweetie....... ;) |
