| ![]() I am new to this site and new to raising a yorkie, although I have raised other breeds from puppies. My little girl Bella is 5 months old and I am having a very difficult time getting her to go out to potty in her fenced off area by way of the doggy door. She will go out, come in and pee, and then go back out! She thinks she needs to pee on the floor rather than out in the fenced area. She will go potty outside if it is in the open yard, but I really need to get her to use the doggy door. I have to return to my school job soon and I am hoping to have her trained before that. Any suggestions as to why she is doing this and what I can do would be so appreciated. |

| ![]() You have to be outside with her to teach her to go potty outside. You need to be there to praise her and make sure she stays out until she goes. Doggy doors if to a safe area can be great but the dog has to be potty trained first. Just pushing them out or expecting them to know isn’t going to work.
