3 year old snapping at me HELP I have a Yorkie (Rocky) who will be 3 in August. He is usually the most lovable dog - kisses everyone. I have taken him everywhere with me since he was 9 weeks old. Recently I noticed him gently biting people when they try to pet him which he never did before. Its a more playful bite but I just getting concerned. Also he usually sleeps with me and when I went to pick him up from the sofa to take him to bed last week he flipped - growling at me and snapping. I thought I woke him and scared him so I let it go. But he did it again last night. I really don't know what's going on. I think he feels bad afterwards because he comes to bed and starts trying to give me kisses like he's sorry??? Just getting nervous because he is normally just a lovable dog.

Maybe he's not feeling well? Have you had him to the vet lately? Maybe something is bothering his little body and he doesnt want to be touched right now. I would definitely have him checked to rule out a physical issue.

Yes, have him checked first to make sure he's healthy. Some dogs are grumpy once they're comfortable and sleeping. 1 of my dog is like that. I have to wake him up slowly by rubbing his belly and then pick him up. If I just pick him up instantly he'll growl and snap at me.

We have realized that Rocky does not like to be moved or disturbed while sleeping so we slowly wake him up if we need to move him. I guess he takes after his mother - grumpy when woken up! Health was fine :-)
