| Poop Issues? Hi Everyone, Hoping someone might have some suggestions to help my lovely baby Sophie. She just turned 2, but this has been an ongoing issue since I got her at 2 months old. Towards the beginning of a walk, Sophie has a good sized, firm, solid poop. Later on in the walk, usually after she has tried to pee several times, she often decides to poop again, however this time it is gooey and runny, and often sticks to her butt (and the sidewalk). She absolutely hates being dirty, so she tried to drag her butt to get it off and acts all embarrassed, but she does this almost daily. She has to have a partial bath almost daily as her butt is so gross. Our vet thought that perhaps she had some food sensitivities, so for most of her life she has been on a hypo-allergenic diet, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I recently tried switching her to Acana small breed, which she loves, but the problem continues. There have been no other changes with the switch, other than some of her poops being a bit darker. This past winter, Sophie often refused to go outside in the cold, which is fine as she is mostly litter trained. After a couple months inside, it dawned on me that she has not had any diarrhea problems all winter. It seem to only be an issue when she goes outside on walks? Any idea why? My guess is that she smells other dogs and wants to leave her scent too, but can't pee anymore so she tries to poop. However, it is extremely annoying and messy. Hopefully someone has some ideas so Sophie and I can get to the root cause of this problem. Thanks! Last edited by Sophiemac; 03-24-2015 at 06:13 PM. |
