Training Kali is my fave part next to cuddles :p I started with her immediately at 8 wks when we got home. I talk to her with simple words all the time like you would a toddler. its been two weeks and she knows come, sit, up, paw, other paw, high five, down, spin, roll, stay, get it, drop it, and go potty. I am very proud of her. i work with her a couple times a day whenever i have moment. I think she thinks its fun too. I give her little pieces of her puppy food in the wet version as her treats since she's so little. i use the food to lead her or my hand to help her do it the first few times then after she has learned a few tricks on command i would start linking them up before giving her the reward. idk how to post a video but you can see her here and you can kind of see how with consistency and time she's learning fast. https://instagram.com/kutie_yorkie_kali/ |
New puppy and classes Im getting a 3 month old male yorkie this weekend. Potty training has been started but not sure if on pads or outside. Im hoping to train for both as my deck steps are quite high and in winter my chihuahuas dont like to go down in the snow so they go on the deck YUCK.....or they go on pads at night....at least they did....the past few months the weather was nicer and so they didnt have pads in their pens. I am assuming next winter the new pup will likely do the same. We travel to visit family and when there the dogs are kept on the bedroom as their dogs are MUCH bigger. SO hoping that new pup will go on pads as well as outside. But outside is preferred. Now that Spring is here it will be easier to train for outside i think. I want to have the pup trained to stay in a crate or pen at night like my chihuahuas too. My stairs are way too steep for little dogs to go up and down to the bedroom with me. I only do it once per day myself as Im disabled. |
