Out of my eight, I have two barkers. NIGHT BARKERS. it is driving me crazy. squirt with water and rattling can with pennies does not work in my house. |
I have tried the spray bottle too and Lexi just barks at me and the bottle. I have also tried the penny bottle and citronella collar on my other dog and it didn't work. My sister tried the shock collar on my mothers toy poodle and she was surprised our quickly it worked. I do not want to use this method but nothing seems to work on my Lexi. She barks when my other dog Boo has something she wants or can't reach the cats, or can't get up on the furniture, etc... I love her madly she is sooo cute but the barking is getting on everyone's nerves. Thanks for any suggestions |
so far the ultrasonic thing is not helping. |
I too have been having morning barking problems. I think I'll try the can and pennies. We'll see! |
I completely agree with the can idea! My can is filled with beans, but it worked wonders. The whole idea is to startle them from barking and then praise them when they are quiet. By the end of a single day, he understood what the can meant and now we don't have the problem at all. Also, my dog hates being blown on (I don't know if this is a dog thing, or a Yorkie thing, or my own guy's little quirk) but I have one of those aerosol cans and just the sound of it (I never do it on him) makes him stop being naughty. Just remember, persistence is key! You can definitely train your little one to be quiet! |
A la dog whisperer (and I'm sure some people disagree), I trained my puppy to stop barking by putting him in a submissive position on his back, belly up, and saying "shhh." It didn't hurt him at all, but at first he did not like being in this position. Now, all I have to do is say "shhh," and he stops barking (or any unwanted behavior). I tried everything else, water, coins in a can, etc., and nothing worked. I felt bad at first, but now I feel good because he seems just as happy as before, and now he actually listens to me! |
We used a shock collar for a poodle we had and they do work. My female Yorkie does bark sometimes and I grab her and say No Bark in a mean voice. She's getting the idea. Good luck. |
