| Chewing Chewing Chewing We just got our puppy a week and a half ago and she is SO GOOD! potty training is getting there, but i cant complain. What i need to complain about is the CHEWING of wires/cords that i cant move. How do i reprimand her when she starts chewing on them? I tell her its bad and put her in her pen adn say "no biting"..but AS SOON as she gets out she runs right to the wires and chops away. any suggestions? |

| Bitter Apple Bitter Apple Bitter Apple!!! You have to get some Bitter Apple spray and spray the cords or whatever else you see her chewing on. If you catch her doing it, say NO firmly (don't yell) and then re-direct her attention by giving her something safe to chew on. You will need to get LOTS of chew toys while she is a puppy, lol. Then when she begins to chew what you WANT her to, tell her GOOD GIRL and give her pats and praise. She'll get it!

| OOOpppppsss.... DON'T give her a treat to re-direct her if she is chewing something bad, lol! Only treat her if she is doing good! (You probably already do, but I am the type that has to say it out loud, lol) GOOD LUCK!!

Yorkie Lover Donating Member | We have also heard that you can take some PCP pipe and cover your cords with that so they can't even reach the cords, you can then pain the pipe to match your wall!! We haven't tried it yet, but need to as we have cords that are within reach!!

| I would say use the spray. My puppies chewed on some cords for about a week maximum but we sprayed them with deterrent spray and told them no and they quit soon after.

| Even better - for us anyway - than bitter apple spray is clear deodorant. It lasts longer than the spray.
