The first night I brought my baby home I couldn't stand the crying! So I slept on the floor with her with my fingers in the crate! Very uncomfortable! So the next night I got smart. I put her crate in bed with me and my husband and she has been there ever since!!! |
Well I would put the kennel in my bed with me. Leave the door open ( or take it off) and put my hand in and touch her. She is in need of Human contact as she is so young. I also have a good game of what ever she likes about 20 mintues before bedtime to see if you can tire her out. Just lick a new born Human baby that does not sleep through the night a new pup does not as well. This to shall pass. Joy |
My puppy slept with me the first few weeks I had him. He was 8 weeks old and slept through the night (6 or 7 hours) without a peep. He has never wet in my bed. In the morning, when I first notice him stirring, I get him up and out of bed and to his puppy pad....which he usually uses. I know for a fact that he would have cried and whinned all night if he hadn't slept with me (we tried it one night). He still sleeps with me a lot, but has become increasingly content sleeping apart from me also. Or - often he sleeps the first half the night in his bed and the second half in bed with me. He usually sleeps with his head on my neck or even above my head. He is no bother at all and sleeps very soundly --just like a little baby, which he is. And, as I said, he sleeps all night and doesn't pee. I just don't think little puppies are ready to be alone. That's why they cry, and, boy, can they be noisy! Carol Jean |
OK we tried putting izzy at eye level with us IT WORKED she only gets up in the middle of the night once to go potty...she doesn't cry or whine all night otherwise, thanks for the tip, it is a god send :)!!!!! |
I've had by baby, Dolce, for a little more than a week now and she has finally quieted down too. At first she would cry ALL night....waking me almost every half hour. Now we're down to waking up once (around 3) to go potty and that's it. I have kept her crate on the opposite end of the house (mainly because I couldn't handle all the noise at first) and covered with pillows. It was a rough first week (that felt like an ETERNITY), but we're finally into our groove. Eventually I'll let her sleep with me, but not until she's bigger. I, too, am afraid of smushing her! |
Of course it worked. Little puppies are too young to be left alone all by themselves all night. They cry because they are lonesome. Can you imagine leaving your mother and littermates and being put some dark place by yourself. You'd cry too. I'm happy everything is working out. Carol Jean |
