Love the washable pads and the convenience. I do believe having somewhere to go inside, knowing it is a safe place that will not get them into trouble, is a confidence builder!:) |
I'm a new parent .....Coco is 8 weeks old and does great at night will pee as soon as we put her on the pad but doing the rest of the time it's not working....I will put her on the pad and she won't go then a minute later she will on the floor!!!! Is she just too young to get it? |

Limit her freedom to a small-ish area with the pad. When you are supervising, this can be one room. When you can't supervise, put her in an x-pen. Praise her profusely when she goes on the pad. I wrote a blog with potty training tips: Potty Training Small Dogs - Dog Life and Style |

For walking while pooping -- I think this may be the result of less exercise. When my boys are outside and walking briskly and are excited, they do their business easily and quickly. If we are stuck indoors for a day or two, pooping takes more effort. They circle the pad a lot. Teddy had problems and I trained him to "stay" on the pad until I could help with the clingers. (Sorry for the graphic details :D). You can work with your boy on "stay." Also, try to increase indoor activity, like a spirited game of fetch, on days you can't do outdoor potty. |
Riley is like Nancy's and Kristin's... He prefers to go outside but will Totally use the pad if he has to... I live on the 5th Floor, back corner of a condo building in the middle of the city... I have hardwood floors so I use the Rascal Litter Box... Bought a Diaper Genie for the used pads and flush No. 2s... LOVE it and works Perfect for us. Here is a thread that has some photos... http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ml#post4121254 |
Interesting that you say lack of except use causes the walking while pooping... He does not actually "walk" for the record... He does stay in the "poop pose" so it is a very strange walk! Lol... I am not sure if that is his issue since he's done it since 6 weeks... I kinda just assumed it was a quirk that I have no clue how to fix... I can see how the stay command would help but that one he doesn't seem to get at ALL! However it is a fact that somedays he doesn't get to cut loose as much as others so I will definitely start making a note of how active he is and how he "goes" |

I have both ... They like their walks! I now let them into the back yard a few times to go potty.. in the morning when I get up and right before bed in addition to two walks a day. But there are times, rain etc so I always have a pad down by the back sliding doors and by my sewing room upstairs. They are used from time to time. What I think is funny (and not in a good way) Remy will use the bathroom matts every so often:confused::eek::( sigh It is kind of embarresing when we are visiting because she did that once at my sil house. Of course her "perfect" dog never had accidents (but he did in my house when I was baby sitting but noooo it wasn't there baby ..ok anther story sorry:cool:) |
