Jasmin sleeps with us. She will wake us up when she needs to go pee and poop. |
Ever since I brought Joel home my mattress went to the floor lol:) He slept in the crate the first couple months and when I felt safe enough then he slept in the bed. |
Thanks everyone. Dakota is doing really well. He hasn't had a nighttime potty accident in his kennel since we got him. Even though he is younger than Bella he seems to be able to hold it longer. Bella seems to be needing to go every three hours. I have even tried holding her to see if she will sleep longer but it just doesn't work. They are so different. I am excited for the night when I get a full rest again. Love it though and wouldn't change it in anyway.;) |
This thread is very interesting to me because our Gretel (who passed away in December) always slept on my DH's side of the bed. She wouldn't sleep with me because I am an active sleeper (DH says "flopper"). Our Hansel has always slept in his bed on our bedroom floor. Never any problems. My question is... I want Princess Sophie to be mine, how do I get her to sleep with me and not my DH????? LOL |

I have a silky which is more sturdy than yorkie and I don't move much when I sleep. But I'm more worried about the possibility of crushing them during sleep than incidents. |
I'm sleeping with mine! I guess I'll see how it goes |
I'm also sleeping with Maddie now. I sometimes don't realize she's right next to my leg but my bed is really soft so I don't worry too much. She's like a little pillow and I feel her and just move. |
I was very afraid when I first got Lily-Jo that she would fall off the bed so I let her l sleep in a little crate on the bed until she got used to us & I trained her to use the bed steps. After a week of successfully using the steps, I let her sleep with us on the bed with my other small dog. She pees on the pee pads in my room & if she has to poop, she'll whine to go out to the poop pads in another room. |
When I first got Cali , she was 9 months old, I put her in a play pen next to the bed at night. I had stairs that went up the side of the bed, and did introduce her to those (she did not know how to go up and down stairs) . I would bring her up on the bed a little bit for playing, but then put her in the playpen. She used a piddle pad in the bathroom faithfully. One nights out 4 days after I got her I went into the bathroom to brush my teeth. When I came out she was up on the bed sitting on one of the pillows and giving me "the look" - like, I'm sleeping here tonight. That was it:D. We put the play pen away the next day. She gets out of bed during the night and uses he piddle pad and then gets right back into bed. Sometimes I don't even hear her. I think the issue is timing - she was ready and reliable and it works for us. |
What a good story! You are a good momma to help her learn to climb the steps and let her snuggle with you in your bed! I'm sure she just loves it! |
I tried letting Lilly just sleep with me and woke up to a couple of pee spots and poo on my bed, so ever since then she knows when it's about bed time and I get ready for bed just before retiring for the night so she's in her bathroom with the gate up and goes in her crate and lies down. At least now, she tends to sleep through the whole night..and only 8 weeks old so I'm impressed! |
Toby has slept in his crate beside the bed since day 1 with us (3 months old) was tough at first since the breader let him sleep in their beds... But once we got through the first few weeks of whining and getting up to pee. He's been good. He will settle down with us in bed until we decide to turn off the lights. Then he gets put in his crate by my side of the bed and will now sleep though the night unless he isn't feeling well. Other than the occasional whimper he's is good and will settle quickly if my hand is on the crate for a few minutes. I'm an active sleeper so my DH is scared I will squish Toby ;) it's all personal preference and what works for you and your fur baby! I get the best of both worlds I think. Snuggles with my fur baby and the no worries of turning him into a pancake! |
