| I welcome to YT I know you are knew so I am sure you did not mean to post your question in the forum which if for a gift exchange that yorkie talk has, when you first sign on, look down at all the differnt forums they are like chapters in a book and pick one that best suits your question or you could always post it in the general forum, good luck and look forward to seeing you the board

| Hi Candy....welcome to YT! I am not a trainer, but at that age, this is normal puppy behavior!....That is an 8 week old baby! He is teething and just learning social etiquitte. He was taken from his momma about a month too early...at this age, their momma will be teaching all the social behaviors babies need to know...of course, that chewing and biting is just a baby playing and to be expected. You can redirect him with something to chew on/knaw on...he is teething and his gums are bothering him...and babies just love to play, like he is trying to play with you. If he was still with his momma and siblings, if he started biting to vigorously, THEY would correct him and he would learn that is not appropriate behavior, if it is excessive or hurtful. These are lessons he has not been exposed to....just re-direct him, allow him to chew on his bubber, teething toys....and if he gets too aggressive, I would say you are correcting her appropriately...tap on the nose, NO!, and redirect to chew toy. (I meant "she" throughout this!!!) |
