do you prefer boy or girl yorkie? hello everybody! i am getting a male yorkie in a few weeks..he will be about 12 weeks..ive been told boy yorkie are a lot harder to house train and tend to be more aggressive than girl yokies..Now i am a little nervous..what are people thoughts and opinions on this matter? |
I probably will have boy dogs for the rest of my life - LOVE them. Grew up with girls, and nothing against them, but I just mesh better with boy dogs. Jackson is wonderfully trained, and enjoys learning. He potty trained very quickly and is not aggressive at all. Actually female dogs tend to be more aggressive in my experience, they have that "bitchiness" about them sometimes LOL... |
i have one of each and love them both. havent had lola more than a month but they are both sweethearts. |
I love my little boy! He's about 15 weeks and is doing very well with his housetraining =D |
Teaka is my first girl dog. Always had males. For training, I prefer a girl. Males, when they lift the leg, there is no control where that pee is going. lol I think in the future if I were to get another dog, I'd pick a male. I find males are more mellow where females are a bit more on edge. |
Everyone has their preference, but all else being equal, those precious little boys...OMG!!! After they have been neutered, their sole existance on this Earth is to love you!! They will bond so closely, so tightly,......you go ahead and get your little boy...you get him neutered by 6-8 months of age, before the hormones start to flow, and he will squat the rest of his life, just like a little girl....no harder to potty train than a little girl! I adore those prissy little girls, but just like human little girls, they can cop an attitude in a heartbeat....like someone above has said,"....that bitchiness about them sometimes...", but those little boys....gotta adore them! Little Snugglebugs is ALL they are! All I ever had was females when I was growing up, even until I started getting Yorkies, before I started breeding.....then I bought my first little male, my little Bumper....he is gone now, but that precious little soul still has a huge piece of my heart....that is when I began to realize the difference in little boys....and now, breeding, everyone want little girls....I can have all my little girls gone as soon as I show them as available... no one wants the little boys....and I have had to keep a few around for longer than I really want, until just the right person comes along...and those little boys bond with me soooooo tightly....I have to start separating myself from them....they dont want to leave! I treasure and adore ALL my babies, but I LOVE those little boys, clear to the depths of my soul! |
My male was much more easier to train in everything than my female |
it doesn't matter to me . i have male & female pets my whole life. i love both |
Some of us are what I call Male Mommies, and some Female Mommies, and I suppose some may not definitely gravitate towards either sex. I've not found it too hard to train the males, some challenges sure; and I'll chat about that in a minute. I think overall Yorkies might be a bit harder to house train then other breeds. But that just means you really really have to be on top of the business of house training. Now in my experience the females do tend to be a bit moodier, even the spayed ones. And oh my the unspayed ones....God grant me the patience! Which he has, but sometimes I find difficult to deal with. Also most passive/aggressive dogs I've dealt with have been females. I know this is a bit of anthropromorphilizing (sp?) but females in my experience in obedience, kind of resist subtly, then give you that look.. do you know what I mean? A sidewise glance that says, okay whatcha going to do about this slow sit, or yeah I heard you say come, but off I go......... Now my males, don't resist subtly, they say to your face Nope no way Not going to do that!. they challenge you face to face as it were. I much prefer that! So you take that challenge and meet it head on. And then, they submit or obey if you will; and no moping or any hard feelings. To me males are often more up front, and yes gosh do they bond with their Mommies. Totally always loyal to a "fault". Yet my males can and are often independent of me, but are there in a flash if I need them. What else can I say? We are just so sympatico with each other. Hope this helps. |

Well, each dog is an individual just like people but in general, I think boys are much more easy going and happy go lucky, eager to please. Typically, if you are going to have an issue with 2 dogs, it's usually 2 girls... I will say that unneutered male dogs do have a tendency to mark inside but not always and sometimes girls will do that too but it's pretty rare.... I have both boys and girls, by the way.... |
thank you for your thoughts to all yorkie parents!!! i will love my baby boy...its funny, the breeder that im getting my puppy from charges more for girls...thats why im asking... |
