| Purina Second Nature Litter Box I want to buy one of these to train Emma to use but I can't find one anywhere?! Does anyone know if and why they were discontinued. I don't want to use the litter with it as I want to put pads in it instead. Are there any other options out there. We tried a grass pad but it smelled so bad after a short time that I couldn't stand having it in the house!!

| I don't get why they still sell the litter but not the boxes to put it in? I like the Rascal Little Squirt but I hate paying for the grass when I will never use it!!

| Rascal Little Squirt I ordered the big squirt because I have 2 dogs that will use it and ordered it without the grass on the rascal website. It is cheaper without the grass. You can use pads, newspapers or washable pads in it. |

| I also use the Big Squirt minus the Grass ,for my Oscar. He uses the grate with the pad underneath. It took some work but now he uses it 100%. Here is the website.. Rascal Dog Litter Box Purchase Now Page |

hi , oscar is 7 pounds. Yeah , i really think the big squirt is better because it gives them a lot more room and they can circle around all they want. We have the big squirt and the little squirt oscar likes the bigger one best..

I have the Purina Second Nature Litter box in both sizes... but I just recently bought the Big Squirt... after I saw that Oscar's Mommy was using it. I can say I toooootally Love It!!!! Much Much Better than the Purina Second Nature Litter Box. With the box, Riley had to get Into it... well, I think because he did not want to Get Into it, he would stand with one leg out and one leg up and pee in it..... this would sometimes cause it to hit the side of the box and go right onto the outside.... or it would be in between the box and pad. With the big squirt it has 9" walls on three sides... the other side is very low.... so instead of him having to jump or get Into a box.... he walks right Onto it... we haven't had any problems!! And, you don't have to buy the grass with the Big Squirt.... I have it and just use pads... I don't even lock the pads down. I just lay them on top of the grid Riley is between 8 & 9 pounds and the big squirt is plenty big for him. Last edited by RileyDC; 04-03-2012 at 07:19 AM.

| Thank you for all your help now I have to decide which one to get. I emailed Rascal and she will sell the Little Squirt without the grass too. Emma is little so I am thinking the little squirt - it would be easier to take with us when we travel but I want her to have enough room too!! Decisions, decisions.....

| It sounds like you have already decided...but in case you haven't I thought I would put my 2 cents in. I have the purina 2nd nature one (I think, maybe not) Either way, I have one I bought at Petsmart over 2 years ago and they were selling the 2nd nature litter. I also have a smaller one that I got from Petco. Which Petco has multiple sizes and store brand litter. After awhile I kind of got tired of using the litter more than Joli not liking it and the smell was never really "absorbed" like it should be. And I decided to look into other options. Because of the location I currently have her "potty spot" (under the bathroom sink, if it isn't in the bathroom she uses the bathmat because she wants to go where I go, and my bathroom is kind of small), I didn't want to use the fake grass things because I was afraid it would be hard to clean without making a mess. ANYWAY, I found the Tidy Cat's Breeze litter system and have been a BIG fan. In the beginning I used the litter with it, but it was loud and Joli was kind of indifferent of it being there and this was about the time I got Somi and she was afraid of the sound. So I started using it with just the pads underneath. There is the little "compartment" for the pads and the poo stays on top. This way it is easy to throw away the poo and the pee smell stays contained so the smell doesn't overwhelm the whole room. This way I can leave the same pads in longer. Oh and also I have two next to each other with the sides cut off between them because I felt that one was too small for my 8lb Joli. I was about to get washable pads for the Breeze system, but Somi REFUSES to use it because when I got her at 4 months she was already puppy pad trained. She does really good on puppy pads, but refuses to use the litter box thing or even "go potty" on command ever. But she'll get up and go to the puppy pad on her own. And currently Joli has taken to liking to use Somi's puppy pads (as well if you see my other posts Joli will hopefully be finding a new home soon) I will probably not be using the breeze system anymore, just puppy pads in the old litter box. But I really like it because it keeps the smell contained a lot better than just a pad. So I hope someone else can benefit from my discovery with a less picky pup!!!

| We used to use the Breeze litter box with our cat and when I re-homed her due to allergies in our house, I sent the Breeze with her. Kicking myself now - wish I would have kept it so I could have tried it with Emma!! I ordered the Little Squirt and will see how she does with that and if the smell is bothering me then I will probably get another Breeze. I never smelled pee in it with the cat and we only changed the pad once a week. I just wasn't sure if Emma would want to jump up into the Breeze instead of walking right into the Rascal one. I am willing to try anything if it will get her potty trained. We are not having much success at this point!!
