Hi MegZ - we bought a puppy apartment and have been using it for about 2 months. We got two puppies at once, Christmas Eve, a girl and a boy. Our boy Sammy was pretty good from the beginning about using pee pads. Our girl Dixie, however, will walk over the pee pad and pee on the floor beyond it. Sometimes it seems she will HOLD it for 2 hours, and then pee when we let her out into the kitchen or livingroom. We loved the pup apt because they couild sleep together, and go pee in the middle of the night without even being trained. That said, however, since they can go whenever they want at night, they don't really seem to be learning to hold it. I'm sure it will be simpler for ONE dog - at least you will know WHO is peeing/pooping and when you let your dog out, you can be confident the bladder was emptied.
