and Bear too! ♥ Donating Member | MaxYorkieBear, or anyone else, training tips please! I have had Bear for 2 weeks now and he knows sit and down. We are working on come and shake (for his left paw). Did you have a certain resource to help teach all of these tricks? He learned sit and down really fast but is not getting the shake yet. I have him sit and say shake and lift his paw then give him kibble. I repeat this over and over but he still won't lift his paw volunteeringly. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. This is how I taught my Labs. Please Help!

| Show him the kibble, then hide it in your hand. Show him your hand. As soon as he puts his paw on your hand, say 'Good Boy' and praise him at the same time give him the kibble. After he does it a couple of times, add 'Shake' as he lifts his paw. I always say 'Good dog' if they do right, bc I can say it faster than I can give them the treat!

You are lifting his paw for him... he thinks this is what you want him to do (allowing you to lift his paw!)

and Bear too! ♥ Donating Member | Lol! Is there an App for that? LOL How long should I wait until I teach him the next trick? I waited a week between sit and down because he was still adjusting to his new family and home.

| If he sits when you say 'Sit', And lays down when you say 'Down', and gives you his paw when you say 'Shake', then move on. I usually mix it up and repeat everything a few times to be sure they understand, and don't get in the habit of always doing the tricks in the same order. Just limit the training time to 10-15 minutes 4-5 times a day. And always end with a successful completion.

| These yorkies sure are eager to please!! It's so rewarding seeing them successfully complete a new trick. I tried for days trying to get Sophia to lay down, and she wouldn't! I came out of the shower one day, and my boyfriend, in a span of 15 minutes, got her to do it! So he gets all the credit for the lay down! But I'm so glad your Bear is well on his way learning his tricks!

| Leave it, Come, and Stay are very important commands, and can be lifesaving in certain situations...
