Bentleys Momma | 07-24-2011 04:28 PM | I agree... crate & xpen should be safe areas and not punishments. However a time-out is a great way to help get your point across. One of the worst things for these social little guys is to be separated from their people so have a timeout room. Do not leave them but for a minute or two. They learn quickly!
For the little ones biting toes, I would recommend a spray bottle of plain water. They don't like it and that is a quick way to instantly correct.
I also just wanted to mention that for these little puppies socializing with another small puppies is very important. The recommendation for pups to go to their furever home is not until 12 weeks for a reason (because momma teaches them so many things are no nos before you ever get them). But even after they are home with you, if you continue to socialize them in either puppy classes or just a small social group it will help with some of these obnoxious behaviors.
Anyway, just my opinion.
Good luck to your and your little babies! |
