Yorkie Puppy- Help with potty training My yorkie puppy (12 weeks old) stays in a pen during the day (inside), where she has enough space to move around and play with her toys, as well for me to place her food and water bowl inside. I am home with her all day, but if I have to leave, I sometimes put her in her crate because she usually doesn't go potty in the crate. But, the crate is much smaller, and I like her to have a little space to move around, so I prefer to let her be in the pen when i am with her. My problem is that i will take her out several times a day, and she will not go to the bathroom. Some days, it will be ten hours before she even goes! Then, randomly, after either being outside and going or being outside yet not going, she sometimes pees in her pen. She has peed on her toys and even the blanket that she always sleeps on. I dont know why she can hold it in for ten hours, yet goes shortly after we come inside (even though she knows she gets praise and a yummy treat when she goes outside). Sometimes, she will go outside, yet then go again soon afterwards inside. When in the crate, she will bark when she has to go, but i dont like confining her in there all the time. I want her to have space, and she seems to love her pen, but i cannot seem to stop her from having accidents in there. Is there anything i can do to potty train her while letting her stay in the pen? |
