| Another Potty Question Hi All, I have recently adopted a little girl yorkie named Scully. She is 6 mos old now and seems to be regressing in her potty training. I know I have been giving her too much freedom so we are going to start back at square one. My question is, I am training her to go outside but if we start back at the begininng do I put pee pads down for her again? or will this just confuse her? I know she is just a puppy and in her bratty stage but I swear I don't remember my Maltese being such a little Demon (I think I just conveniently forgot)! Any and all help will be very appreciated. | Hi Terri, And welcome to YT. Mine are trained for indoors and outdoors. I treat outdoors the same as rewarding for going on the potty pad. I know that there are other opinions regarding the confusion. Let's bump this thread and get you some more answers!!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Welcome. If you are home a lot you could just take her out frequently. I have 2 that only go outside and 1 that will only go on pee pads no matter what and a 5 1/2 month old that I am in the same boat as you. I gave her to much freedom and she just wouldn't go on the pads. So we started over. When it gets warmer here I am hoping she would go outside too. I haven't had any luck getting any of mine to do both. Good luck

| If she was not using pads and going only outside you don't need to go back to pads. You just need to crate her when you are not actively watching her and be sure you take her out regularly and often with effusive praise when she gets it right.

| Thanks so much everyone. Of course yesterday she was a perfect angel and did her business in the yard and on her walk, not one mistake. Today, right back to square one! I think I can actually feel the enamel on my teeth getting ground down! Just kidding, I love the little freak! |

| Just make sure that you are rewarding with treats and a party by making a complete fool of yourself whenever she potties in the right place. When ours were puppies, we would dance around and sing and act like complete fools. They loved it, and it helped enforce the good behavior. I've read plenty of stories right here on YT where people did the same thing outside in complete view of their neighbors. They looked like fools, but by gosh their pups were potty trained!!
