| Potty Training vs Accidents I thought my dog was potty trained and his accident days were over....not I just caught him peeing on a small carpet in the bathroom that I usually put his water at night and food sometimes. I shouldn't have, but I screamed at him. I was using puppy pads until this summer. Now and then he would use those pads but not often anymore, so I took them away. Does accidents happen to your dogs still~? Should I put the pads back in use~? |

| Peeing on a small carpet in the bathroom may be a sign he is marking instead of really peeing. What is the difference? Well, intent and sometimes quantity. Males, mostly, are apt to mark their territory, especially if they smell another or think they need to "annouce" that they are in charge of an area. Marking in a bathroom is not all that uncommon. If he has started, you might want to remove the bathroom rug.

| It sounds to me like he is marking, in which case, he wouldn't necessarily give you those signs that he needs to go out, mainly because he wants to mark right where he is. Has he quit doing this yet? Or have you tried maybe moving that bowl of water somewhere else to stop him from continuing to mark in that area. |
