I've never used the hanging bells. Cooper slams his paw down on a bell I keep on the floor. It took him a couple of weeks. How long have you been training?
Also - i wouldn't praise for ringing. I would praise for pottying. Once she understands, she'll just keep ringing the bell and expecting praise!;) | I've been using the bells for about 2 weeks now. I thought by praising for ringing the bell, I was doing it right. :( Oh well. I always praise her for pottying as well & just recently started giving a treat every time she potties outside. I'm hoping with the praise & treat, she will understand that pottying outside is best. I'll stop praising for ringing the bell. Quote:

I think I did this every day, all the time (and there were lots!) for 3 weeks and then all of a sudden one day (the first post) she just did it. Now she does it a lot, but is still having some accidents. | That's about how I do it, so I guess I just need to give her more time. Patience is key! ;)
Thank you both for your help. I hope to be able to come post soon that Lulu has learned to use her bells! |
