| Training to go outside... So jade is now 10 weeks old (today!) anyways, I realize she is far to young to ever even come close to understanding potty training however, I have a question. Is it better to let the dog go outside and do its business ONLY. As in no play whats so ever outside, or take the dog outside frequently for walks and or play and when she pees outside to lavish her? What is the better method? I am reading conflicting views. Thanks! |

| I don't know if I can help, but this is what I did. For my two yorkies (I have an older pek too) I put a superyard xt outside for their potty pen to get them used to going outside. In the beginning I took them out very often, put them in the pen and made sure they went potty, then took them out to play around the yard (sometimes) or go back inside. If it took a long time, I would try to walk them around the pen to work them up so they would go. This way, I wouldn't have to chase them around the back yard and I could watch closely. It also helped when they had potty-time in the middle of the night. I praised them when they went and took them out. They soon realized that if they went potty, mommy would pick me up and I could play. Good luck and I hope this helps. |
