Training to Signal How in the world do I train my pup to signal me he needs to go outside? I tried the bells and he rings them when he just wants to play with them. He is good about going to poop on a schedule, but he pees often through the day. He has about 1-2 accidents a day. He NEVER signals me that he needs to go out. What should I do? Also, do any of you use a dog door? Thanks!

Have you used pee pads at all? It takes a little while for them to get used to, but once they do, they "get it" and only pee there, unless it's an extreme emergency or whatnot. We don't use a dog door, I wouldn't feel safe with our Yoda being able to go in and out anytime he pleased.

I tried them when I first got him which was over 6 weeks ago. He always did better going outside. He wouldn't poop on them at all. He likes to hide behind bushes when he does that. Since he wouldn't poop inside I figured I would just train him to do both outside. Also, when I was trying the pad thing he would do his business on my bathmats and my doormats. The vet told me using paper wasn't such a good idea. I wish I would have stuck with it now. Thanks for your response!
