Can a 5 month yorkie still be trained?
 
I am adopting a 5 month old Yorkie. Can the puppy still be trained? I am not sure how young they have to be to learn at their best.

Yes, 5 months is still plenty young for training though. Lexi was 4 months when I got her.

I am getting Mango!

She was under the available Yorkies part of the forum, I forget the exact name.

But she had a video posted of Mango playing with Mommy Yorkie! I'm so excited! My first Yorkie!

Still trained to do what exactly? Potty? Obedience? Agility?

It's never to late to teach an old dog new tricks! :D

Congrats on your new puppy. Bogie was 10 months when we got him. He was 90% potty trained and has been a breeze to train. You should be fine.

hmm i was going to train him just basic commands, like sit, come, paw, stay, and try to get him to hug me. :D

I taught my then one year old to ask to be picked up like a little kid. He comes right up to me and puts his paws up, like he's reaching for me, and when I pick him up, he lifts his back legs almost like a little jump. :)

Honestly that was a fluke. I just started asking him if he wanted to be picked up before I actually picked him up and eventually he knew it was coming and would jump up.

He weighs 7 lbs. He hasn't grown much in a year.

I'm totally going to teach my Yorkie that when I get him! Or try! I can't wait! I also have a pug but she's not exactly light....30 pounds :eek:
