I think you have a tremendous heart and tremendous patience given the situation. In no way am I trying to be funny when I say this, but what about Cesar Milan? He must have a way for people to contact him. Your story sounds like one the network would air. Since Mindy is a biter it may be hard to do, but I learned from a trainer to use Bitter Apple in the mouth of a barking dog with the "quiet" command. It has worked for me in the past. Best of luck to you. |

We were told she was 2, she was in heat when we brought her home and was told she had been bred by "accident" so we waited to spay her. She never had any pups so we took her in before she was to go to her new home and they discovered she had closed pyometra so it was perfect timing. After the new family got her they took her to the vet and their vet said they thought she was probably closer to 5 because of the pyometra and her teeth. The guy who asked us to take her said she was a stray they had found and their vet guessed her to be around 6 months I guess. But I do not have that vets name and cannot get it. She was vaccinated at that time as well. |

I already vaccinated her since we have had her, so she is up to date. No they did not clean her teeth. They aren't bad, she just has the wear of a dog older than 2 years. The surgery was pretty intense because of the pyometra infection so it took longer then a normal spay so they would not have done teeth anyhow.. The new family was going to have it done after she was healed but brought her back after 9 days. Their dog was not adjusting to Mindy fast enough and they didn't want to traumatize their dog...She seemed to like him just fine though. He was just too shy... |
I didn't get a wink of sleep last night and now I feel like crap.. SO I am going to go and lay down for a few hours. Just letting you all know so your not wondering where I went off too;) will have my phone near in case the person Jodi put me in touch with calls. |
Hold up slow down and calm down, everyone, breath !!!! Just stop for a second. When you have one as bad as this one is looking somedays you just hit a wall and need to one vent and to a hand to go yes this is stinky crappy and not a bunch of fun. Can we sleep on it and see if the next day is worse or better and go from there. NOW everyone is breathing what can we do from here? I can not remeber how old she is and forgive me I am at work so no spell check. I may have to go before I am done thinking and writing all I need to say. IS there anyone willing to take her to give you a break even a vet over night stay. what are you willing to do to help this baby and please everyone if she is as tough as I am understanding it may be in her best intrest to be not in mental pain. I AM NOT SAYING it is so right now but with a dog that is tough it is an option that needs to be on the table always. My little is DNR and will be and was been for all her life and we have a standing order to have her put down at any time she can not cope.... note she.. I have back ups that step in fast if I can not cope and take her but that was years and I mean years in the making. I still think her best hope is to se Terry Ryan at legacy and sooner then later. that said if that can not happen fill out the form I sent you in the PMs and get her on a plane if I think I can handle her with my schedual and not risk my dogs and lets see if I can do anything. I think she is still young enough to turn around but I need more info before I step in. Note to all I am not a behaviousist. I by law can not diagnose aggression but I am a darn well taught mum ( yes I have retired from training) and we will see what I can do. Again I think Terry Ryan in your own back yard is her best hope. JL JL |

Karla- My heart is going out to you. It's never easy to have to make the decision to rehome a pet, especially with the history that this one comes with. I hope you can find some peace and a solution that works out in the best interest of your family and Mindy. {{hugs}} |
I will be thinking of Mindy all day, her situation is heartbreaking. |
Mindy Hi Mommadog1: I have read all the posts and really feel for you. I can see you have done all that is humanly possible to help Mindy, and you cannot be accused of anything but brave and kind persistence. How you have dealt with her for so long is amazing, and you must be mentally exhausted. It seems there are kind and helpful folks here who are prepared to take her and try to make her a better pet, so have faith and keep your chin up. There is help out there even though it is taking time. You are doing a wonderful job, but please try and keep going until the right rescue comes along. Again, you are an angel and doing your very best - many would have given up long ago! My prayers are with you and Mindy and hope the solution comes soon. |
Any updates from the rescue? Do you have a surrender date and time yet? |
