The last couple of days I've taken Ruger to the market and left him tied to a rail, inside but just outside the door of the market. As soon as I went out of sight he started barking -- loud. Everytime someone came up to pet him he got quiet. When I first got him he would do this all the time when I went out of sight, even when I closed the shower curtain. He got quiet when the curtain opened. When I first tried to crate train him I remember taking him out of the crate and bringing him to bed with me. As the other poster said he stopped and started to cuddle. It was a great feeling. :D As your pup gets older it will be easier for you to go out of sight and move farther away. They just need some security right now. |
Yelping during day with me home This is my first posting. Hi everyone! Lil Bear is a 10 wk YT. I have owned him now for 8 days. He is great for the most part. I have read books, magazines and articles on the net. I can't seem to find anything on a yelping YT when he yelps when placed in his pen and crate. He's had too many accidents in the house. I learned to place him in his pen when I am doing something for a short time. He yelps as if he is being abused. It sounds comical, but its annoying. I ignore him. I don't want a negative behavior to develope. I worry a little about hyperglycemia. YT are prone until about 4 mos. Is there a way to stop this. He does the same in his kennel/crate. He is only in there a few minutes. Its funny, he can inside his crate chewing his toys and be fine for a long period of time..lock that door and an alarm goes off. I will also place him in his pen if he has an accident on the floor or carpet. (I do clean up ASAP and use a enzyme oder eliminator). This is my dilemna. I am there and he sees me and behaves like this. I need advice. I have no problems at night. I learned after nite 2, place him in the crate and put him with my 13 yr. old daughter. LOL Her idea and he loves it. He does sleep through the night. |
Not sure if this will help but Kasha HATED being left alone when we brought her home @ 12 weeks. She would freak if left in the bathroom with me while showering ... ect. Her cries were so loud ( or perhaps I'm such as sucker) that she now sleeps in bed with me for the most part. I've found that if I need to put her in "her home" (crate) if I put her to bed just like you might a baby, she will settle down after a few mins. I talk to her and let her know she's going "nightnight" and stick my hand in the crate. I feel like this is less mean than ignoring her but still firm. Also, the need to be with you all the time has very much gotten better. I give Kasha Kong toys stuffed with frozen peas and carrots when I eat dinner, she goes nuts and is tired enough to leave us alone after finishing her treat. Hope this helps! |
