peeing next to the pee pad! Ok........ Pixie is 5 months and she was doing real well with the pad training. I have a pee pad in her ex pen and one behind the chair in the living room. As long as the gate is closed to the living room she will pee on the pad in her ex-pen or the one behind the chair. Well today we are peeing right next to the pad not even on it. I am not understanding except that we changed our living room around and moved my husbands recliner and the chase. We left the pee pad in the same spot but she is still peeing next to it. I would appreciate any help bc I am getting discouraged. |
OH NO.... Zoey has done the exact same thing over the last 2 days !! I thought maybe it had something to do with her being sick but maybe not???!! Sorry I can not give any advice but I will be looking along with you to hopefully get some insight! Good luck with precious Pixie (sure hope her and Zoey aren't up to monkey business behind our backs ;)) |

Roxy went through a spell like that for awhile. She'd even put her front feet on the pad & pee on the carpet. It's infuriating, I know. But warm weather came & she learned about going outside. Pad is still there & she has completely ignored it for months. It's all outside now. She's 14 mo now. Keep working at it. Spring might get here yet. |
Do you use a pad holder or just place the pad on the floor? I found that they would have accidents at first where they would just be off the pad and then I bought a pad holder. the pad holder has a raised edge and I haven't really had much of an issue since. I think the pad holder helped to understand where they "should" go. |
I use a pad holder and always have. She use to be so good about this and then we changed the living room around and bought a new gate. We did not change where her pad is but just the chair that was in front of it. The pad tray is behind the chair next to the living room gate and she is peeing right next to the pad in front of the new gate! I cannot wait till warm weather bc we are doing our business outside. This is too frustrating!! |
oh goodness. i guess i better be careful when we decide to rearrange our furniture. I never really thought about this throwing them off. maybe this is her way of telling you she doesn't like where you put the chair? :) |
Oh Great so now my Yorkie tells me where to put my furniture!! lmao She definatly owns me. I am not a Yorkie owner I am a Yorkie toy person! lol could this really be the problem? What should I do about this? We had to change the living room around bc she kept jumping from the couch to the coffee table and I was afraid that she was gonna get hurt. She missed a couple of times and did a complete flip and it scared the life out of me. So we removed the coffee table and switched a few chairs around, the chase and my husbands recliner. I just am so baffled as to what to do about the peeing next to the pad. |
Yep. Sure seems like they actually own us :) My oldest loves to jump from couch to couch as well. I've tried to get her stop before but no luck :( |
I got a dog litter pan almost like this PETCO Contour Dog Litter Pan at PETCO, I put the pad inside I don't use the litter just the pad, I had to put a small towel in the button of the pan because it will make a noise with the tiles and the girls will get scare and take off running every time they jump the box:rolleyes: |

Contemplating this one..... |
I was gonna suggest pan too instead of pad holder. Works like a charm. Re: the arrangement of the furniture... she doesn't like the feng shui of the room, that's why. :p |

My 5 month old started doing this too in the last two weeks! Nothing changed, I never rearranged any furniture or anything. However, I did notice that he does this more often when his litter box needs to be cleaned (I use UGODOG), so maybe they are just clean freaks!? :) He was getting to be really good at using his UGODOG and almost had no accidents anymore. Now he often decides that getting his front paws on the litter box is good enough.... |
