My daughter paid a licensed dog walker to come in to take her young english bull dog out when he was a pup. She is very busy with work and school so that is what worked for her. Just until brody was able to hold it longer. I personally would not train a dog on pads or paper. Ive done paper twice with my other dogs and this was the first time crate training and it is soo much easier. Most dogs just won't go in their bed. The crate though has to be very small to fit only the dog. Only room to lay down and turn around. We put a divider in ours that my husband made so as the pup grew we moved the divider untill he was able to be trusted. If I couldn't watch Kobe every second, he would be in his crate, and as soon as I took him out, he was taken outside and if he didn't go pee I would put him back in the crate because he would pee on the floor as soon as I let him down. So he learned to not be in crate, he had to pee outside each time getting out of the crate. Good Luck. Be consistant, it is truly the only way. It is hard but well worth it. |
I have 3 yorkies, 11 months, 10 months, and 16 weeks. They are all still in the potty training stage. My female uses the pads 100 %. She will not potty outside. My males will pee on them but will potty outside when I take them. I have the washable pads, they would tear up the disposable pads. They are not crated but confined to the sunroom with gates. There is a group on here Don't Pee on That that has a lot of great potty training advice. Good Luck with your new baby. I still get very frustrated every day. Pray it helps. |

Let me just say new Mom, first take a deep breath and realize that it won't be like this for long. Pixie is 5.5 months and we have good days and bad. I have learned that the more stressed out I get about the potty training the worse she does. lol Kinda like a toddler when we are potty training our children.:D I have found that if I give Pixie the run of the house she does TERRIBLE so I limit her to the living room. When she does go on the pad I have to make a big deal about it like she has just won a million dollars! lol Having a new puppy at times can be stressful, but you just have to keep in mind that things don't always stay the same and once your puppy realizes what you want from them it gets better and better every day. Good luck and don't sweat the small stuff! |
