i can completely understand you feeling a lil iffy about free feeding .. i dont do that to Chicle b/c i have someone give him lunch at 1pm. but i just dont feel its too safe for him not to eat anything during the time you are out.. thats just a long time for him not to eat... i dunno just my opinion.. i mean we feed em a lil bit anyway ... maybe a treat then while your out if you're afraid of him gaining weight. just leave a lil food down like a lil kibble and see how that works.. im just worried that your lil guy may not be getting enough to eat is all :( |

No matter whether you free feed or just feed kibble in meals your pup should be eating at least 1/2 a cup so what you can do is split it up into 3....give him his brekfast and leave the lunch portion in the bathroom that way he can eat it if he gets hungry and then at dinner you can give him the remainder...he is still very young and they are soo tiny it is important to have the food |

You can give him a bath on your own..but my breeder suggestted not more then 1x a week. At 10 weeks he shouldn\'t even need to be groomed but there are too many germs for a puppy that little and unvaccinated to be around. My vet did not allow me to take Maximus out for walks or anything until he was done with all his shots...this was also the breeders advice..once a dog gets pravo it is very bad..and those are risks!! So what I would do is bathe him myslef and blowdry him..get his used to his weekly baths, Maximus wasn\'t groomed until 2 weeks after his last set of shots and that was really only because his bnails had gotten long..your vet will probably cut them for you if thats the case, as well as pluck his inner ear hair out!! I am very surprised your breeder or vet did not mention about keeping your pup indoors until they are fully vaccinated..I would call both!!! |
I think there is a lot of advice that has been given so far, but I wanted to point out one thing. I free feed Stewie and he only eats when I am home. I would just be cautious to make sure he is actually eating while he\'s in the bathroom and no one is home. I hope that made sense. |

The thing with free-feeding, I suspect, is that it depends on your dog. Leave a huge pile of food for a day when you are home and see what he does with it. Does he eat some and walk off? Good sign...Keep an eye on it, and when he starts eaiting too much, cut it back to smaller bowls for a few days. Working good for Chewy anyway! |
