"In The Dog House" hate thread I'm taking a leap here and surmise while most people at least like Victoria Stilwell, and may disagree on Cesar Millan, we can all join together and hate the new trainer on Animal Planet. * Bad hair. * Mean to dogs. * Mean to people. * Doesn't think dogs should be allowed on furniture. * Annoying voice and mannerisms. * Obnoxious. * Uses choke chains. * Believes that when dogs are stressed and unhappy, they are being submissive. * Patronizing. * Purports not just to train dogs, but to bring families together. * Pretty much unbearable in every possible way. There's something here for everyone to hate! If you've seen his show, please feel free to share how much you disliked him and why. :) |
i watched one show of his and hated it. i haven't seen it on TV since. when is it on? i don't remember much of the episode except for him going into their kitchen and throwing out ALL of the treats the older couple had for their dogs (granted there was WAY too many, but he didn't have to be an ass about it). The husband demanded his mic to be taken off and walked out. i stopped watching. And i saw part of an episode about a husky/malamute/akita (don't remember which it was) that was giving the owners trouble with walking. he made them tie the leash around their waist and weave thru trees. i stopped watching that too. LOL |
The one I saw the dude spray painted on their walls! In their living room! I could tell the couple was really pissed, I would have been too. I don't like his methods with the dogs to be sure. He jerks them so hard their front feet lift off the ground. I don't think it will be on air long, do you? |
looks like its on tonight after "its me or the dog" so i'll have to watch and report back again. |
Ha! I'm watching it now, and he's with two of his own dogs. He told them to Stay, and then moved away. If you look closely, you can see one of the dogs immediately gets up when he turns his back. Dorkface. |
My bf and I have only watched the COMMERCIAL for it and we were like who's this @$$hole? I haven't watched a full show and don't plan too. Well maybe I will watch just so I can say how much I hate him. What time is it on tonight? Oh maybe it's over already. |
I saw the one where he threw out the treats that the older couple had bought, too. I DO NOT like this guy. I stand by Victoria and her techniques over anyone b/c they work so well with Sophie. Ceasar is good, too. But this new guy is AWFUL! |
I dont like that show at all. Hes a bad trainer |
What day and time is it on. Does anyone know the name of the show. He sounds like a "real gem". I'm thinking I already don't like him just from reading the posts. |
I'm not sure he's on any set time... there seem to be a whole bunch of mini-marathons running on APL over the weekends. He's just awful. He tells people not to pet their dogs because it "spoils" them. He pulls dogs up off their feet by their collars all the time, and encourages owners to do the same, just to teach their dogs to Sit! And every possible action is ascribed to the dog trying to be alpha. Does your dog bark at other dogs? Alpha. Sleep in your bed? Alpha. Have bad leash manners? Alpha. Eat, sleep, or wear fur? Alpha, alpha, alpha. I really hope he's pulled soon, but I keep seeing his show and getting aggravated. |
This show is too negative! I feel tense and uncomfortable through out the episode. I think training should be fun and rewarding. I think I'll stick with Victoria. |
Ok so i just watched an episode about a family with 4 dogs, with the main concern being Bosco, a black german shepard. First thing Brad does when he comes in the house is chase the dog around the living room, up the stairs, and then into a corner to leash him. He then takes the dog back downstairs, grabs his collar with one hand on each side and lifts him into the air by it until the dog gives up and lays down. He then of courses voids the house of treats and toys (they did have way too many toys) and tells them the dogs aren't allowed on the bed or furniture. he teaches the family how to get their dogs to sit and snap their fingers but you don't really see any training going on. the dog was completely horrible and the episodes makes it seem like if you take away the spoiled aspects of its life then he'll walk perfectly on a leash wrapped around your waist. i don't get it. oh and this show is totally for adults only. the wife was swearing up and down. i think she even called the dog an a-hole at one point. i can see why this show didn't air until midnight by me... i have another episode i'm about to watch so maybe i'll see something i like but i'm not counting on it. |
watching the next episode about a couple who lost their dog, Echo, a year ago and then got a shelter dog as a new pet. They loved Echo very much, had pictures all around the house, and her ashes in the living room. Ok, so i was touched that brad realized they were still grieving a lot and he brought pictures and the ashes of his old dogs with them. he did shed a tear, but i thought it was staged. This couple did like brad and he wasn't very harsh with them, but i think that was because they were very accepting of his ways. He also took the collar of this dog and struggled for 30 minutes to get the dog to "submit" into a dog position. In the end the dog walked well with them and got along with the other dogs. However i didn't see much training that Brad did. |
I saw the one with the couple who lost Echo. I think Brad (?) is awful too. When he was trying to get the dog to submit, I just cringed. I don't remember which episode it was because I saw a couple of them. I tried to go into the show's website to find out who he is but it wouldn't let me in. The funny thing is Emily lay down right next to me and watched the episode very intently. I wonder what was going through her little head.:aimeeyork:aimeeyork:aimeeyork |
I knew this Thread was coming! LOL You know whats funny to me?? Animal planet just had an advertisement for positive training methods staring Victoria, so why did they give this guy a show? People who thought Millan was bad, at least he doesn't pin the dogs down if they are just sitting there, only if the dog goes after another dog or him. This man did it for no other reason then to show the owners that the dog wouldn't like it. |
