| eeekkk...2 dogs, both with sep anxiety My fiance' and I have had Buddy since January (he was a rehomed baby when we got him). At first it was just him...he learned a lot of things quickly (pee pads, sit, stay..etc.), except he used to cry and pace around when we left him alone. We finally trusted him enough to have run of the 1st floor, which helped a little (he used to sit in the low window in our living room most of the time he was left alone..or he would just sleep). Then we adopted a little Maltese...she is almost 3 months. Since she isn't completely pee pad trained yet, we have been keeping her gated in our kitchen with food, toys, bedding, pee pads.....along with Buddy because they love to play together. We thought this would be better than seperating Buddy from her. Don't know if this was such a good idea. At first our Maltese, Lilu, could care less if we left the room, but I think she is starting to pick up on Buddy's bad habits (following us everywhere we go in the house). We keep both of them in our kitchen with access to part of the hallway where the pee pad is....and when we leave, they are both at the babygate...crying for us. They play like crazy when we are home, and could care less about us when we are there, but once we leave...it breaks my heart to hear them cry. I've been using Rescue Remedy with Buddy for a while, which has helped a little, and started to give it to Lilu also. What else can I do for them? We don't make a fuss when we leave or when we come back. Any advice would be great. |

| I don't have much experience with separation anxiety, but I saw that your thread was missed in the shuffle, so I wanted to give it a little bump. I hope in the meantime that things have improved for you.

| Unfortunately you did two things that got you to this point You had a pup that didnt really have separation anxiety and you put him with a dog that does and you contricted his domain The anxiety ... is contagious They are feeding off one another with the bad nervous energy Get the younger pup trained as soon as possible because the longer they raise a ruckus everyday ... the longer it will take to stop this behavior
