housebreaking age This could be interesting. How old is your yorkie and is he /she housebroken? Maybe we will see a pattern. My Lexi is 4 months old and Not housebroken. |
grrr Maggie is 9 months.... and not housebroken. I've said it many times: I cannot wait to move in my apt in a week so everyone will stop setting her back. Everytime I make progress with her my dad thinks he knows better and changes the routine :( |
Kacee will be 5 months old September 9th and she was housebroken by 4 months. We bought a doorbell which hangs from the door knob and she jumps up, rings her bell and sometimes barks or makes some sort of "funny" noise. There is always someone home with her, too. We keep pads down in case no one can make it to the door in time. She might use them once or twice a week, if that often. I plan to always leave pads down for her so that they will be available if everyone is gone. Over the weekend, she needed to go potty and I don't know what brought this about but she came running into the bedroom and led me back to the door at a run. :D That is the way my little Muffin used to tell us she wanted out. |
Twinkie is almost 7 months old now. I got her when she was 5 months old and she was not paper trained yet. After about 2 weeks she was completely trained to use a box lined with wee wee pads. I do have 2 chihuahuas that use the same box so I think she started to copy them - I think I did get lucky with her though! |
Coco is 6 months and is 99% potty trained since 4 months. Every once in a while (once a month or once every couple of weeks) she will have an accident (usually my fault because I throw her off) but I think she's doing great for her age. :p Mommy's sooo proud of her |
It think Bailey was 6 months,,, YET to this day,,if he has to go #2 ,,,and I dont react instantly,,, he will handle it on his own! He is 15 months old~! In the night if his feet hit the floor off the bed, and I dont get up right away, he will go in the bathroom and poop  .... ( ya know when your are sleeping a min. seems like a second,,, so I hear him get down,,, and by the time I get out of bed,,, he has already handled it and he's back in bed sleeping... like saying " dont get up mom,,, Im done"! :thumbdown This doesnt happen alot,,, but every now and then. |
Maxwell is 16 months he never does a mistake in the house, now his brother Zeus.....Well Zeus spent the first 6 months in a nasty Pet store were he ate, drank and pottied in the little box.....But he gets better every day and for him treats are a sure way to get him to go outside..... |
Eddie is 16 months and hasn't had an accident in months. |
Housebreaking Jack is 4 months and has a accident about 2 to three times a week. Mandy is almost 8 months has one maybe about every 10 days or so. They have never had a poop accident in the house since I have had them. However Jack has had a few bouts of diarrhea I will not count as mistakes in his crate overnight. We are making progress!!! I have been taking them out on the hour since I got them for over 11 weeks now. Verena :) :) |

lucky is 4 months old and is 99% pottytrained. i dont want to jinx myself and say he is fully potty trained but he hasnt had an accident in weeks.... i take him out everyday at the same time once in the morning and when i get home from work....usually there one poop waiting on the pad when i get home but lately i've noticed he waits for me to come home to potty and in the mornings he wakes me up at the same time 545. thats the time my alarm clock goes off but now i dont use it because he's my alarm now....... |
Gucci is 1 yr old and she is 99% housetrained, well pee pad trained. She goes on her own to the pee pad and goes but sometimes she pees at the edge of the pad but I dont consider that a mistake. We had two pads, one in the bedroom and one in the bathroom. My hubby forgot to replace the pad and she poop on the floor where her pad was supposed to be. But I consider that our fault not hers. She is doing pretty good. Sometimes she gets lazy thou, and has some accidents but are getting very rare. |
Mine are from 1 to 3 years old and they are housebroken . |
Gracie is 7 mos now and 100% potty trained she will bark at the door if i don't see her standing there....i would say she was pretty much potty trained at about 5 mos....a few weeks after i got her at 14 weeks she was going to the door but sometimes couldn't hold it and would have an accident by the door.... |
Deegan is five months old now. And for the most part he does well, but every once in a while (say once a week) he will have bad day and go potty in the house. He knows what outside & go pee mean so why does he doe this? - I don't know. Plus sometimes he might cry at the door when he has to go, but then other times, he doesn't. I don't understand his thought process. We are going away on vacation in November, and my bf parents are going to puppy sit for us. I really hope he gets better by then because I don't want him soiling their house. Like I say, for the most part he is good so I guess I can't complain to much. |
Well my Prince is 1 and a half and is not housebroken at all. When I try to implement some of the training techniques that I've learned, someone decides to do something differently or not help me implement it. It's very frustrating and I can't wait to get my own place so that my baby won't be confused anymore. Is there anyone out there who lives in NY that will help me train my baby. I am willing to pay. lol. I'm desperate. My father tried to sell him because he is so tired of it. HELP!!!!!!! |
Help!!!!!!!!! I would really appreciate it if the parents that have successfully trained their babies to go inside (on wee wee pads or newspaper) could give me some tips on how they accomplished it. You could either respond here or email me at dbrea2003@yahoo.com. I would also appreciate any advice that you could give me regarding Prince whining when I place him in the crate at night. I use his carrier, Sherpa bag, which he loves but at night he is too used to sleeping on top of me. This makes training him very difficult. Someone told me to spray some water in his face with a water gun when he whines at night. Is this a good idea? Please help me before my father tells me to give him away. Thanks in advance |
Mine were trained around 6 months but still have some accidents sometimes. |
Harley is 4 1/2 months old and he's still learning. He's gotten much better in the past few weeks. |
Otis is almost 6 months and has not had any accidents in TWO months !! He rings a bell to go out on the balcony where there is a litter box w/pee pad in it. However, he doesn't have free roam of the house yet... only downstairs... so we shall see what happens when I start letting him go upstairs too !! |
Give your dad away!! LOL!!! :D :D :D Suz |
Would anyone please buy my father? I'd be more than happy to sell him, if he didn't pay all the bills. Lol. Maybe things will change after I get a job. Unfortunately, I can't give him away, but I'll sell him for a reasonable price. Any offers? But seriously guys, please help me. My father is a drill sergeant and everytime he gets pissed off at my Prince, I'm scared he's going to make us do push-ups. |
Will someone please help her? I believe she's trying to train him to pads. That is not my specialty. Mine is training to go outside. Please!!!!!!!!!! |
toby has been housetrained since he was 6 or 7 months old.... he is a year old now (he will be a year old on sept 14th) :D |
Joey, at 15 weeks, is paper-trained with few mistakes but is making very little progress toward going outside. I take the blame, though. I've been reluctant to crate him for long periods and I don't seem to be very good at reading his cues. He doesn't seem to "go" on any type of schedule. Also, with the weather being as bad as it is here as often as it is, I don't think going on paper is necessarily a bad thing. |
Yorkieusa, thanks for being so concerned. I thought about training him to go outside, but the weather in the winter in NY is unbearable for humans, just think a poor little yorkie. Everytime I opened the front door last winter, Prince would run into the room because it was so cold. He even has snowsuits and boots, but they don't keep him warm enough. |

Hope this will help when they are outside! This is the one that my Prince uses. I can't remember if it has the opening for them to do their business. If I find the snowsuit I'll let you know. You could also buy the lily boots with the hard rubber surface so that their little paws don't hurt in the cold. Prince also has a heated bed that automatically turns on when it reaches a certain temperature. If I find the link for that, I'll let you know also. We have to get ready for the winter because it's right around the corner. javascript:open_zoomwindow('http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_large_img.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=84552444 1806935&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302032061&ASS ORTMENT%3C%3East_id=2534374302023689&bmUID=1126209 677508') |
