| Puppy Classes Bear just turned 4 months old and I want to get him into some puppy classes soon not only to learn a few things but to socialize him with new dogs as well. I have no idea where to go in our area and I was wondering if anyone had taken their furry friend to Pet Smart for classes? I was hoping to find a smaller place near by us but most of the places have hours that don't work for us. Any suggestions? |

| I have heard both good stories and horror stories about pet smart so I would just check your local pet smart out. Good luck! |

| Toby took the Petsmart puppy class a couple of years ago. It was very informative and had six dogs in it, the largest was a Sharpei puppy. Rudy is almost five months old and his first puppy lesson at Petsmart was on Saturday. There are four dogs in the class, and although the lessons are basically the same, this is a different instructor and she has more experience than the first one. All the classes are treat motivated, but I think Rudy will learn more at the class than Toby did because of the smaller class size and the trainer

| Have you asked your vet for suggestions? We found one online, and ran it by our vet to get her input before we signed up.

| Hannah graduated from puppy class on Saturday We took the class at petsmart. It was fantastic! We started off with three in the class, however, by the end there were only two dogs left. Hannah learned a lot. The class is more effective if you practice daily. They give you notes. The class is treat based. I use cheerios for Hannah. I am going to enroll in the intermediate class. |

| I'm going to run up to Petsmart today to find out about signing Jackson up for classes! I really need him to know some basic things.... him not coming to me when called is really beginning to annoy me, LOL. The only thing he does for is sit.

| We put Samson in the Petsmart class when he was 3 months old and I really liked the class. I will say though that Samson did NOTHING during the class time, he was a little freaked out by the other dogs and wouldn't do any of the tricks in class. The minute we got home I would practice with him and he would do all the tricks, he was just seriously distracted by the other dogs. I knew when I was attending the class I was there to learn, Samson was there to watch the other dogs and then at home we would practice what I learned. As soon as Harley has his last shot he'll be attending a Petsmart class.

| He's about 4 months! lol. The only good way to get him to come to me is say "Jackson, want a treat?!" and he comes flying from wherever he was at, lol. I give him a little treat everytime because I don't want him to stop coming to me if I don't really give him a treat, you know what I'm saying? lol. But I'd really like to be able to just say "Jackson, come here" and have him come to me.

| I signed up for the class yesterday. It was $109 for an 8 week thing, every Wednesday night. So we shall see.

| Hi I am new to this forum stuff! Anyway about puppy classes. My Lexi who is almost 5 months will graduate from puppy school next week! We went thru a local training school and they do a great job. The only thing that bothered me was she seemed to get very submissive during puppy play time. Constantly rolling over, even peeing once. She was was very playful the first time and then seemed to regress each week, hiding more. She weighs 5 lbs and the other 7 dogs were all very large including a 60 lb St Bernard pup! There was one other Yorkie in the group. and they tried to play but kept getting bowled over. I just wish they would separate the smaller dogs even for awhile. Because she really wanted to play! The trainer said she did great for her size. Anyway we will probably do the puppy agility also, to help boost her confidence. |

| I canceled my petsmart training class. I found different places I can bring him to if I really want to, it's more expensive but I feel like he'd get more out of it. But yesterday and today, I really started working with him on stay and come and he was doing fairly well. I wanna keep practicing for the new few weeks, see how it goes and if it gets better... i'll just keep doing it myself. They have free seminars at Petco too so I wanna try those out to socialize him.
