Like someone stated, they are all different. Our two girls, 2 yrs apart are not constantly at each other romping and playing. They never did as the youngest was so much smaller and the 2 yr old sister just always watched out for her. Ours turned out to be very loving to my husband and I and can't find any negatives to having two in our home. The baby will be 6 yrs old on Nov 4th and she still has the energy of a puppy where as the older one is not the energetic type, she's more layed back and watches but never really gets too involved with playing being almost 8 yrs old this Dec 29th. They share the same toys and toy box, even twin dishes and sleep near each other and us. They are just like people: they all have very different personalities. We don't have small children in our home but do have a 10 yr old grandaughter of which they have always gotten along with. Good luck in your choices! |

*MY* problem with more than one is the noise level. Apparently, I am very sensitive to noise. All the vocalization as they play, etc drives me bonkers! I'm better off with one. |

I have my Maggie as of right now. She is the first dog I've ever had on my own. I am absolutley in love and obsessed with her. She does everything with me and is VERY attached. My parents have 2 dogs and my aunt has 2. When I go there to stay occasionally there are times that all of those dogs are there (1 10lb yorkie, a rot. mix, german shep./collie/lab mix, and a beagle mix) and she abosolutely LOVES having them there to play with. I would really, really like to get her a playmate. I'm just nervous that she will be very jealous and put out. I know she'll love having someone to play with, but if another dog has that much of my attention she might get really sad. Also, I LOVE being able to take her everywhere with me. I know if I get another it won't be so easy. As of right now, I'm weighing my options. I'm just telling myself...whatever happens, happens. lol- who knows. Good luck though. Regardless of what you decide you'll be so happy to have such (a) wonderful companion(s). :D |

It's like having one child or twins. And - there are certainly advantages and disadvantages to either. Plus - puppies and people who have puppies are different - and some people may be much more successful with two puppies than other people might be. It certainly may be a lot of work and having to become very adjusted to schedules, etc. And - I think people's home environments are important too. Some of us live in homes with yards, etc., that are very pet friendly --- whereas others of us live in apartments with a lot less space, etc. Whichever you end up doing - good luck. I think puppies are worth all the work they cause us. I'm sure you do too. Carol Jean |
We brought Chance home at 14 weeks old and we already had Remmy who was 3years old. However when we got Chance we found out that Remmy had bladder stones and had to have surgery. One with illness (bladder) and a pup. I was one worn out momma. This has only been since Feb. I just got back from a much needed week vacation in Mexico. How nice it was to take a nap in the middle of the afternoon with out feeling guilty because I should be playing ball in the backyard. Now that it has been about two months since Remmy's surgery and Chance is about 95% percent potty trained things are settling down. But I can only handle two for now unless hubby lets me quit my job :p I'm not sure I could do two puppies at one time. I would have to give myself a break in between potty training. But having more than one is so much fun! |
Lexie is an only puppy and I am very happy with that decision. I think a lot of it depends not only on you and how YOU feel about it, but also how your other dog feels. I know Lexie can be quite jealous and I myself would feel almost guilty trying to split my attention between two. I personally like the fact that I can spoil and lavash ALL my attention on her. I just wanted to offer another side to this equation. I don't think you can go wrong either way! Good luck with your decision. |
