rather young or not...i am a strong believer of crate training...you may want to give that a shot...and being so tiny i think it would be a lot safer for a her...think about what could happen when you are gone is really scary |
The dog isn't left throughout the whole house its confined into a play yard. So she is boxed in with her pee pad/food/bed. Only thing that in there is her kennel. What I need to learn is how to crate train... The steps of doing it. |
My Sophie and I are in puppy school at PetSmart currently. We just completed week 5 of 8 weeks. This is a good school. It teaches you basic, but important commands and it also helps to socialize the dog. Sure, there are some things that are taught that applicable to Sophie (large dog chasing squirrel and tearing your arm out of the socket so here's how you should hold the leash) but I take what they teach and apply it accordingly. This is my very first dog, my very first puppy and of course, my first Yorkie. It's been a good experience for both of us. She gets so excited as soon as we walk throught he doors of PetSmart that she shakes with it. It's really cute and she loves all her new little friends she has met. I recommend it. Could I have taught her all this on my own? Sure, but she enjoys the other dogs. Enjoy! |

Good Morning All, I wanted to give you guys some updates on how my weekend went with my little princess. So Friday night. I had susanldm advice in mind. I put her right next to my bed. Only thing I didnt do was put her in the kennel what I did was put her in her bed that she sleeps with during the day. Its like I had an alarm clock everytime I heard her move I'd wake up.. So I woke up at about 2am took her out to the pen to do potty she did it. I was so proud. Then off to bed again. Then again at 7am on Saturday she tinkled then off to bed again. Wasn't til yesterday since it was such a beautiful day out we took her outside to the yard. There is a dog next door to me that was there and she was just so happy to have a friend. She actually went poopy.. I wasn't personally there because I had to run errands but hey my boyfriend took pictures LOL!! So since I'm on sequence I wake up for her without having to put her in the kennel. Tonight I'm gonna try to put her in the kennel but keep her near my bed of course and continue to wake up to take her out. What do you guys think? Am I doing everything good so far? Have in mind this is my very first puppy and I'm just so eager to have her learn.. :animal-pa:animal-pa:aimeeyork Also I like to add I enrolled her in puppy education in Petsmart I can't wait to go to our very first class.:p |
I think you're both doing great! Hope things go smoothly this week |
Glad things are going much better. Well if she sleeps ok in the bed thing and doesn't get up and wonder about then I think that is great she sleeps that long and then goes pees for you. I think it is all trial and error with these dogs. Try something and see if it works if not try something else. At least that is my approach because alot of things people have said to try about the nipping and biting and barking thing none of them worked for me. I tried and tried. I really worked at it for weeks and they didn't work so I had to find other ways. So every dog is different that is for sure. I too started taking my little puppy outside yesterday and he loved it and peed. I also took him to the park to walk with me today he really liked that alot. The weather is just so pretty out there. I can't wait till it stays like this so I can take him out alot more. My classes start tomorrow with him at Petsmart. I can't wait to see what happens. When does yours start? I wish you the best with your training as well. God Bless! Keep up the good work. |
