UGODOG uses two smaller, removable, fitted grates rather than one large one to make cleanup of the grates easier and more convenient.
The UGODOG grids are specifically designed and engineered to support dogs and accomodate their delicate paws. The beams of the UGODOG grids are thick and convex in shape to cushion dog's paws.
The UGODOG grates also allow the pooh to settle on top making clean up easy and mess free. Simply lift the grate with the pooh on it and drop the pooh in a recycled waste bag and throw away. The grates allow for your pet's paws to remain dry as the urine passes through the cubed openings and on to the base below where canine pee pads, or more preferably newspaper, absorbs the urine and odor.

I have thought about trying this. It recieved mostly good reviews. I think I would just like to train her inside but I don't know if i could deal with the odor.:thumbs up

:D Hi! I've been training my 4 month old Yorkie, Hobbes, to use the Ugodog for the past month since I brought him home. I'll try to share some insight (but keep in mind Hobbes is not fully potty trained yet).

Okay, so Hobbes was originally paper trained-ish by his breeder, but he still had many accidents when I brought him home and tried to train him to keep going on the newspaper which I had put in a pee pad holder. Then I switched to the Ugodog, but I put a sheet of newspaper in front of the Ugodog and half a piece over the grating to try to ease the transistion. With this setup I've been using the normal training technique of constant vigilance (whenever possible) and positive reinforcement when he goes in his spot. After about a month, I'd say he is 85% "accident" free and improving every day. Every few days, I give Hobbes a slightly smaller newspaper area around the Ugodog by tucking it under. I'm hoping that eventually he will not need the newspaper in front or on top any more and he will just go right on the grate. At any rate, it's very convenient even with him peeing on the newspaper on top because it doesn't soak through to our floors, instead, if it leaks through the first piece of paper it goes through the grate and is absorbed by the paper underneath the grating. Generally, I think the Ugodog is great for training a mostly-indoor dog because it's pretty easy to clean and it doesn't look bad either (compared to other similar indoor dog potties).

As far as the smell and clean-up goes: Yeah, using any type of indoor dog potty is going to smell... bad. You'll have to clean it very frequently to minimize odors (just as you would with a litter box system) probably with a bleach based spray. What I do is I throw away the piece of newspaper that he has peed on as soon as possible after it happens and I pick up the potty with toilet paper and flush it down the toilet. This might sound a bit gross, but this tip has really worked for Hobbes with the Ugodog: soak a tissue in a bit of your dog's urine and slip it under the grating so that your dog recognizes his/her scent when looking for a place to go to the bathroom.

Hi there,

I have been using the WizDog (similar to UGODOG). It has worked well for us. There are still occasional misses (why, I do not know) but in general, Rocky runs to the WizDog when he needs to go (he saves up until we are home to get a treat too). Rocky is just over 5 months old and has been using the WizDog since he was a little over three months old. It can get stinky though and is not the easiest to clean but in general, very good and much cheaper than pee pads.

I have been using mine since I brought Molly home and she is 2 weeks shy of being a yr old.
We have very little misses and gets a small piece of a cookie every time she goes. I only change the paper twice a week and I'm home all day to pick up the poop.
You could try putting a bit of baking soda on the paper when you lay it down..
I find it very easy to keep clean and heck of a lot cheaper than puppy pads...

do you all find it easier for your dog to be inside trained? i just adopted charlie, and he's been making poop accidents in the house. i'm wondering if it would be good to borrow the dog pan my stepmom has.

i got both of my ugodog today! hehe...can't wait to use them since it is raining outside today!

I had one, but, I gave it away to my sister-in-law...it would be fine for a puppy I think that you're training, but, for mine, they were used to the pee pad, and the one would always go over to it and pee on the side instead of on top, which then the pee would go all down and around the sides of it, and I would have a puddle of pee everywhere..

did you put the pee pad inside the tray? just curious!

I used both pee pads and newspaper..they didn't care which it was, as it was in the bottom, so they couldn't see it..

that sucks! i guess i will see how it works for me..hehe

I have this. I've been using it for over 2 months now and I LOVE IT! This is seriously the best thing ever. I got it for about $40 bucks, I saved on shipping because it turns out the founder of the UGODOG lives close to me. I placed my order that day and went to go pick it up at his house right after work.

My yorkie learned to use this quickly. He was on pee pee pads at the time, but quickly learned to go on the UGODOG. I don't ever have to buy pee pee pads again. He simply goes pee on the UGODOG throughout the day and at night when he's made his last final potty, I simply pour the pee into the toilet, spray the UGODOG with Lysol, and rinse it in the tub under hot water.

Cleaning the poo can be a bit messy because it can get stuck in between the grates, but a simple solution I found out is to place a tissue paper underneath my yorkie when he is about to go. Then I simply fold the tissue paper over and flush it down the toilet. If I don't feel like cleaning the UGODOG, I also take him out to go poo. My yorkie uses it mostly to go pee.

Anyways, i think it's amazing. You will definitely never have to buy pee pee pads again!

Okay, whoever just got their Ugodog, did you have hard time transitioning them from peepad to the Ugodog. I've had the Ugodog for almost 2 weeks and I have to say I'm just really frustrated and am about to give up. Over the last 2 weeks, I've done everything possible to make the transition as smooth as possible such as....

- smearing some of the urine on the grate...
- putting peepad underneath and covering only one side with the grate...
- removing one of the grate and putting on top of one side of the peepad on the peepad holder

After doing all of this, it seems like Cassiopia is doing everything at all cost to avoid peeing on the grate or even on the partially exposed peepad. If anything, I think she's definitely regressed on her potty training and have had quite a few accidents (peeing on the bathroom floor, hallway floor, etc).

Any suggestions.... :confused:

That's why I quit using mine..one or two of them would get up on it, but, the other one was peeing right next to it, and I would have pee all around the bottom of it, it was terrible..Then a couple times a week, I was going outside and having to hose the whole thing down..My sister in law loves hers, me, I'm sticking to the pee pads..The last box of those I bought from drsfostersmith, I actually got the biodegradeable ones

When I brought Molly home the breeder had them in a run and they went on paper at the end of the run. She wouldn't go on a pee pad. So we just used paper. Then when I got the UGO I put paper on top and kept making the area covered smaller until the paper was gone. Maybe if you keep picking them up and putting them on the UGO and stand there that might help... Seems like whats easy for one doesn't always work for the other.. I'm sorry you are having a bad time.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear about your troubles. I bought some sort of scented pee drops as well with the WizDog (similar to UGODOG) and dropped them on the newspaper as Rocky was used to pee pads (he still uses pee pads while out visiting family members). This worked well, maybe because Rocky wanted to cover up the scent of the scented pee drops. Of course we give him lots of "Good Boy, go potty!" praise and a teat when he goes in the right spot.

We put the paper under the grate right away and put the drops on top - and placed the WizDog right where the pee pad used to be.

Thanks. I think I'll try to give it go next week. Right now she's so confused as to where she should go potty. Yesterday, I've decided to switch back to her peepad and she's having accidents left and right and has finally started to go on her peepad this morning. Perhaps the Ugodo (or WizDog) might not be for her. Poor little Cassi she must be so confused. :(

Yesterday, I've decided to switch back to the peepad w/ holder and of course she had another accident. She peed right next to it and I had to mop down the floor and wipe down the peepad holder. However, this morning it looks like shes going back on the peepad. I'll try it again next week...and give it another week to see if she'll adjust...if not....at least I tried to "go green" and not use the peepad.

I've tried putting the peepad on top of the Ugo, but for some reason I don't think she likes the feeling of the grate underneath her feet and have been avoiding it at all cost. Perhaps it has something to do with her being smaller, she's 3.8 lbs. :rolleyes:

sorry that it isn't working for me but mine are potty to go outside but once i laid dog the ugodog...on days it was raining...i placed it inside my laundry room and have it gated off...they seem to take it pretty well...i love it...because its easy to clean...no more shredded pads...and on wet days i don't have to go outside...hehe...here is a video that i made the other with them in the laundry room

i don't think that is a factor because yoshi is only 4 lbs and MeiLing is only 3.9 lbs (and still growing)... also i still have a maltese puppy that is awaiting her new home that is only 3 lbs

That video is way too cute!!! Is that Yoshi, Meiling, and Kioko in the video? My goodness, they play so quietly. Whenever I get the ball out and start rolling it around, Cassi makes these weird noises... I had some friends over this past weekend and they said she sounded like a gremlin. LOL. BTW, where did you get that ball from? I would love to pick one up for Cassi.

yes that is the 3 brat....hehe..i got the Zani ball at Walmart for like either for like $3.94/each but be sure to push the little button on there to make sure it works before buying it....because i bought 7 and only 3 works and it only last a day before the battery ran out..i wonder if i can change out the battery...hehe

Sounds like Walmart has a lot of neat stuff for our furbabies. I've yet to stop to check out their stuff, since the nearest Walmart is about 20-30 minutes away. I'm gonna have to get Cassi a Zani ball, I think she'll go crazy over it. Thanks!

I got a Ugodog about 2 months ago for my Yorkie. He has been trained on puppy pads so what I do is put a puppy pad on top of the Ugodog. He doesn't really notice that it is anything different.
What i do like is that now his urine doesn't soak through to the floor. This was a big problem for me and eventually your floor will smell bad and you won't be able to get it out. (I just replaced my floor!)

He took to it pretty well so I am happy with the purchase.
